3 Floyd's zombie dust, bell's hopslam, new glarus dancing man wheat are my favorite brews from the Midwest. Tripel karmeleit is very tasty as well.

Yuengling if I got the money (not that it's really all that expensive)

Natty Daddy for slumming it to get as cheaply drunk as possible.

Miller Lite if I'm out of town and have only generic options.

Quality beer with taste but still able to pound it if you're looking to get hammered. The perfect balance in a beer.

I had Long Trail Double White a few years ago in a bar in NYC. I've gone their a couple times after that and they never had it again as apparently it was a seasonal thing. I haven't been able to find another place serving it. One of the best beers I've had without a doubt.

to each his own but this shit is gross! but hey, man...i can respect getting fukked up on a budget.

anyway, op...i like a lot of beer. i probably drink more budweiser than anything because i think it's the best "affordable" option. but probably the best beer you can buy out of a store, in my opinion, is any rogue beer. start with dead guy and work from there. don't think i've ever had anything bad from them. kind of expensive though, but you start seeing that usually with beer, you can tell when you step up in price that you're getting what you pay for, moreso than when it comes to wine or liquor.

not sure where you live, but nowadays there are so many microbrews out there, you can probably find some good local shit on tap at bars in your area. if i ever go out i usually drink stuff like that. it's pretty much always better than anything you buy out of a bottle in a store.
