    Need To Start A Business

    Any and all input welcome

Currently been independent owner (see the handle) of my own little distributorship for 25 plus years

Would like to get "into" something else, anything. Want to get into something that doesn't involve driving.

A good buddy of mine in HVAC made a killing servicing gay bars over the years. Serious. These places have big coin. They would call him at any time when we were out for any stupid reason. He would get up off the bar stool, drive there, hit them with a $250 service call charge to start, and they would be happy he showed up. They didn't want ANY interruptions to business. Threw money at him. He did this on the side to his normal 9 - 5. I'm not phukin around. Gays are everywhere AND they have BIG $$. No kids. Ton of free time.

Another business would be something that involves older people. Same thing. Ton off money. No kids.Ton of free time.

a friend of mine had the idea of opening a gay bar 5-6 years ago, only issue was he didn't have the money at the time and couldn't find another person to go in the business with him. Guy really wanted to go into the business and thought it would make him millions. His working as a cop now and I haven't heard him talk about it since.

    EZ

people think gays are those you see skating at the Olympics or walking down the street with a purse

A LOT of men and women are switch hitters. Married with kids. I think the actual number is way higher than the standard 10% given. A dated a chick years ago (smokin hot) that was bi. A buddy of mine worked at a restaurant with a lot of gay servers. They use to point out the guys that came in with their wife and kids that they had sex with.

One must have to be well armed to run that type of a business. I will contact you if I need. My brother is a cop. Might be something he would be interested in as well.

I'm doing fine with my current business. Want to get into another field. Maybe a store front. Maybe a bar or retail opportunity. A don't have the patience for any trade I can currently think of. I'm more of the service and/or sales oriented driven individual. I have a lot of ideas and drive. Got around 40 K liquid. Could get another 200 if/when I sell my distributorship. I'm really looking for a niche of a general idea that's not getting enough attention in a given community.

You need to do somethi g that can take advantage of all of the baby boomers that are or will be retired soon. Massive potential, as the customer base is through the roof.

sure it depends on the area you live in, but on a serious note I always thought lawncare work would be a great company to startup. As long as you live near a huge residential area with thousands of houses the biggest obstacle is getting word out to enough people. I've thought about it myself, I think being a respectable looking white guy might set me apart, lawnwork is usually an Hispanic only job here. Old and lazy white people I think would be more comfortable with me doing the work.

It's brutal work hippo. Heat of the day will kick your ass. After a while, with the tan you'll get, customers won't
be able to tell if you're Hispanic or black.

A lot of equipment to buy also. Truck, trailer, lawn mowers, trimmers and the like.

I maintain and fix broken residential and landscapers equipment. My niche is, I go to them.

Anybody can start a landscaping business it really doesn't take any skill or training so it's to much competition. Friend has a lot of rich client's and he doesn't work in the winter which is a plus but he's making like70k a year and that's a lot for that field, doesn't seem that enticing but its better then a 9-5

A few things about lawn care.

I live in a big city right now. That racket is too competitively priced though there are plenty of clients. And it would take a while to build a customer base (that also might be good). I will be moving out to the sticks this year. Out there though, people are generally fine with taking care of their properties. If one goes the commercial business route, they generally will use the cheapest service for something like that. The biggest problem, is there's nothing "niche" about it. Unless I had chicks in bikinis doing it. I would have to charge quite a bit. And eventually there would be legal problems. I've seen them with a care wash owner that went this route.

Any snow removal is generally done by companies that have summer oriented work, such as contractors, bricklayers, or the like. They have much of the needed equipment and manpower at the ready whether it is a big winter or not. I couldn't compete with that angle.

One problem I see with this.....are they really retiring???

Many won't or can't. Loser kids living back home. Massive debt piled up when the economy was better is an anchor right now. Property values in many places have dumped and that was a lot of peoples nest egg.

Just heard a nationally story off the radio. Those businesses in Denver are being robbed rather often. I guess there's a ton of cash moved.

They WERE getting robbed. Not any more. Feds were not allowing the dispensaries to make bank deposits which led to accumulating way too much cash. Banking laws loosened now.

My cousin and her husband were both turds.

He borrowed enough money from my uncle to buy some high pressure water gear and business cards, used his initials as the business name, went door to door to restaurants, got some accounts, and after hours went in to clean the hoods above the stoves.

Dude makes pretty serious bank. Enough to pay some Mexicans dudes to do the work, he mans the phone I guess.

Power washer service. Driveways only. Need 1 college student part time, 1 good power washer $500.

Here's the play; Go into neighborhoods with $200k - 800k houses. Find dirty driveways. Do a 1 foot by 1 foot sample. Leave a bid on the door. Follow up with a snail mail. Pay your college kid a % of sales.

The other half is a RN. She has worked at a number of places and has told me a number of stories. For those unaware, a great majority of male nurses are gay. One she worked with was constantly calling off work. He had a career (that he spent a lot of money and schooling to acquire), day hours, in a large hospital, easily could clear $1500 to $2000 a week with his hourly pay and overtime which is standard in that business. He was getting close to getting shit canned. She talked to him out of concern and as a friend. Dude told her to not worry, his side business as an escort was cranking. Was making in a night what he did as a nurse in a week. One good story, he got a business call to take care of business for a couple guys. Went to the place and walked in to see 12. She of course, worried again, said omg that sounds aweful. He said it was a great time.

He's dead now. OD'd in his mid 20's a few years back.

I also dated a chick a long time ago. Smokin hot. Had a personal trainer. Fake rack. Bleached hair. Use to pull in $300 to $400 bartending. Last I heard she is an escort now. Not necessarily pulling tricks. But out with older dudes for big coin.
