Took my daughter to a sleep disorder clinic for this.

Her problem was using her room for too much apart from sleeping.

30-45 mins before you want to be asleep go to another room, preferably have a shower and get into some sort of sleepwear (even if you dont normally) and read a book, a paper one. or have a warm milk and write a diary entry. Anything that is solo with no feedback (no electronics).

Then at the time you want to be asleep, go to bedroom turn light off and go straight to bed.

If you are really committed to fixing it, and it's a routine problem like hers was, doctor says a week of this has most people sorted.

And the other thing was to make sure you got early morning sun, to boost melatonin so you experience the natural sleeping pill of it running at the right time at night.

Good luck. I hope you do well. I know how frustrating it can be.

I have had this problem before. I found that when I went on vacation I slept much better in the hotel beds. Turns out, my bed at home was not nearly as comfortable. I bought some more sheets and another comforter. Problem solved.

    depends on many things...

    did i smoke weed ?

did i have a ton of coffee / caffiene?

did i play in a baseball game?

how high is my stress level?

    lots of factors.

but i once heard... if you have trouble sleeping never get in bed until you are exhausted

    Amitriptyline

Only thing stronger is Xyrem, however you have a better chance of seeing God than having it covered by insurance...

    Xyrem cost $65,000 per year..

the funny thing about Xyrem and its costs are: it was adopted from the street known as GHB or the "date rape drug"......

this shit is the only drug on Earth that will induce stage 3 and 4 sleep....

thanks everyone. i can live with the hour or so delay, sometimes 1.5 hours. ive tried all the usual techniques and no matter what i do i have a delay on when i can fall asleep. i have a natural serotonin imbalance, and serotonin-melatonin so it makes sense.

once asleep i usually stay asleep apart for the one time i piss at 3am

and i dont use sleep aids i hate that. pauly ill look that one up if it really creates rem sleep

Amitriptyline will put you to sleep guaranteed..

The dose is anywhere from 10mg to 150mg......

Amitriptyline was developed around 1960 so it has been time tested not like all the side effects out the ass horrible serious side effects "sleep meds" they are putting on the market today..

Put it this way,if the medication was developed after 1990 I will not take it.....

    Xyrem
You need to be diagnosed with narcolepsy, cataplexy, or non stage3,4 sleep cycles to have Xyrem prescribed...

And even then insurance companies will find any way possible to get out of paying for Xyrem.......

.All "expensive" medications require prior DR. authorization, which means the DR can not prescribe on just his medical expertise..

He has a shit load of hoops to jump through and red tape to break(set up by insurance companies not medical professionals) in order to prove his patients NEED the medication......

    In other words.....

Insurance companies dictate to DR.s ,what they can and can not prescribe.......

Here's the kicker: Because DR's don't have time to go through the process they in turn have the nurses (which are NOT qualified) go through the authorization process......

You can NOW see clearly, why dictation is set up this way......

Oh ok, I thought you were saying insurance companies where directing the actual medicine type.

I would not trust insurance companies to make any decision about anyone's health, so understand your worry.

But if it's any comfort, the govt sponsored system in Australia requires the same sort of authorization for expensive medicines. The doctor has to use his phone to key in a few details and get an auth number.

I've never heard of anyone being knocked back at the point of prescription.

But, that's a govt system that also needs to stop people going to 10 doctors for the same medication so they can sell it to Americans for 20x more than they paid as well as an attempt to reduce the use of expensive brands.

The Gov has no KEY regulations on insurance companies in US,in fact the Insurance "corporations" write their own laws through paying off law makers in DC......

US Doctors have patience of a add patient....

Therefore they have limited interest in fighting to get the right medications for their patients....

    You can't blame them though.....

All the blame goes to insurance companies......

Imagine being a doctor who is basically a liar in the insurance company's eyes until proven otherwise.....

Monopolized medical corporations are criminally corrupt and way out of hand...

No way to stop them since they are backed by the US government........

This actually makes a lot of sense. I don't have trouble sleeping very often, but I can understand that using your bedroom for other things besides sleep would make the mind work. I don't keep a television in my room for this reason. I have a radio and ipad next to my bed if I want to get the morning news or do something before falling asleep.

    Thanks for posting this
