as the title says. Never been a fan of camping out to get the big discounts. I am looking to buy a 42-50 inch LED on Black Friday hoping I get a good price on it. Anyone know where I can get one without having to get their at 3 am and wait in line? Gotta think theirs places that will have all day deals so I can go during the day.

What's your budget? Most of the TVs that are on sale for Black Friday are typically lousy models.

Walmart has a 50 inch LED for only $288 but its an Emerson brand. I know Samsung is a better brand but is it that big of a difference? And I think LED is better than Plasma. Plus the Walmart sale is the night before so I should be able to get my hands on it

Plasma is better for sports, especially if you go with a tv like an Emerson.

It's not being phased out due to quality, it's purely a cost/marketing thing. Plasma still beats out LCD/LED(they're the same thing) when it comes to pure picture quality.

bingo. the stores push what makes them the most money. plasma is pretty much universally recognized as having a better picture.

You'll do just fine with a plasma in a normal living room.

As far as televisions go, I know a lot more about them than you do. Plasmas are superior to LCDs in most settings.

Do you still copy movie reviews? Or is that one of the things you've stopped doing since I called you out on it?

Amazon just announced, just like Walmart, Amazon will have a $98 720p LCD TV, though this one is from Seiki; Walmart's is from Funai, which usually sells TVs under the Emerson and Magnavox brands. Amazon is also touting a a 60-inch 120Hz 1080p LED LCD TV from Vizio for $688. Although the model isn't mentioned, this set might be the E601i-A3 model that Walmart will have for exactly the same price.

Among the other TVs being offered as special deals:
    • a 50-Inch 1080p LED LCD TV from Seiki for $229
    • a 55-inch 120Hz 1080p LED LCD smart TV (E550i-A0 ) from Vizio for $480
    • a 55-inch 240Hz 1080p 3D LED LCD smart TV from Samsung for $1,298
    • and a 65-inch 120Hz 1080p LED LCD TV from Samsung for $999

The 50-inch Seiki could be the SE50FY28 model that Kmart will have for $400. (It could also be the the SE50FY10 model that sells for about $600.) The 55-inch Vizio now sells for about $775, so it will be almost $300 cheaper during the Black Friday sale.

Based on its specs and price, the $999 65-inch Samsung might be the UN65FH6001FXZA, which is currently selling for about $1,400. If it is the same model, Best Buy will also have it for about $1,000 during its Black Friday sale. The $1,298 55-inch 3D Samsung set could be the UN55F7100 set that currently sells for about $1,600.

Also listed are the Google Chromecast streaming media player for $30—a $5 discount—and the Jawbone Jambox Bluetooth Speaker, for $100, down from its usual $150 price. Best Buy will have the same prices on both items. Amazon will also offer a Sony Blu-ray player (BDP-S3100) for $55; it might be the same Sony Blu-ray player Best Buy will also have for $55, though the specific model wasn't listed.

why is that 50 inch LED tv so cheap compared to other brands of the same size? Is Seiki a horribly bad brand? I've never heard of them. Does this mean I'll have viewing issues with the tv the first month or is the picture quality just bad overall?

Panasonic dropped out of the Plasma market, but Samsung is still going. Even if they BOTH did, Plasma is the better technology, better picture. Grab one NOW and enjoy for 5 or 10 years or until you're ready to go OLED, the next big thing. Too expensive now, and not enough content anyway. Now's the perfect time to get a plasma set.

They recently announced they're done in March or May of 2014, stopping manufacturing. Don't recall which month. A whole lot of people are buying the ST, VT and ZT series right now.
