It wasn't $22 million per year lol. His entire contract with the Flyers is worth $22.5 million so his cap hit for us is only $4.5 million. That is a tremendous value for a player of Lecavalier's stature.
It does some other things for the Flyers as well. For one, Brayden Schenn now moves to wing where he is better suited to play his crash and bang style.
Two, it takes pressure off of Giroux to carry the offensive burden.
Three, it helps an already great power play unit that was ranked #3 in the league last season.
Four, he helps an area of weakness for the Flyers in faceoffs.
An all-around great signing.
As for the cap, don't worry about it. Do you really think the Flyers are not going to be cap compliant when the season starts? lol
We'll make some trades I'm sure to address other areas of need.
