Nixon Wiretapped An Office, Obama Wiretapped A Nation

    Pretty insane, right?

Yet no one is calling for Obama to be impeached. Why are the fukkin liberals so quiet on these scandals?

Not a fukkin peep out of them.

Wonder what they would say if Reagan got caught doing this kind of illegal, nefarious shit.

wow do you not know anything about history ?

Nixon wasn't in deep shit over wiretapping, ( and by the way it wasn't wiretaps, it was tape recordings ) he eventually had to resign because of what was on those tapes

now keep in mind I think Obama is the worst president in the history of the United States and should be impeached but you do not bolster your argument with the Nixon analogy

It was the 70s version of wiretapping. It was only an office. Obama wiretapped the entire country. Both are illegal acts only Obama's is much worse.

    From Wiki:
Wiretapping of the Democratic Party's headquarters

    Main article: Watergate burglaries
In January 1972, G. Gordon Liddy, general counsel to the Committee for the Re-Election of the President (CRP), presented a campaign intelligence plan to CRP's Acting Chairman Jeb Stuart Magruder, Attorney General John Mitchell, and Presidential Counsel John Dean, that involved extensive illegal activities against the Democratic Party. Mitchell viewed the plan as unrealistic, but two months later is alleged to have approved a reduced version of the plan which involved burgling the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate Complex in Washington, D.C., the ostensible purpose of which was to photograph documents and install listening devices. Liddy was nominally in charge of the operation, but has since insisted that he was duped by Dean and at least two of his subordinates. These included former CIA officers E. Howard Hunt and James McCord, then CRP-Security Coordinator. (John Mitchell had by then resigned as Attorney General to become chairman of the CRP.)[8]
After two attempts to break into the Watergate Complex failed to yield information of value, the order for yet another break-in was given to Liddy by Jeb Magruder, either acting on his own or on orders from Dean.
Shortly after midnight on June 17, 1972, Frank Wills, a security guard at the Watergate Complex, noticed tape covering the latches on doors in the complex (allowing the doors to close but remain unlocked). He removed the tape, and thought nothing of it. He returned an hour later, and having discovered that someone had retaped the locks, Wills called the police. Five men were discovered and arrested inside the DNC's office.[8] The five men were Virgilio González, Bernard Barker, James McCord, Eugenio Martínez, and Frank Sturgis, who were charged with attempted burglary and attempted interception of telephone and other communications. On September 15, a grand jury indicted them, as well as Hunt and Liddy,[9] for conspiracy, burglary, and violation of federal wiretapping laws. The five burglars who broke into the office were tried by Judge John Sirica and convicted on January 30, 1973.[10]

the office that Nixon taped was his own

his words and knowledge meant about the Watergate break-in is what did him in.

if he had simply said " what tapes " and burned them he would have served a full second term

    You're missing the point.

Nixon acts were illegal and so is Obama's only Obama acted in a much larger scale than Nixon did.

There was wiretapping in the Watergate scandal. That is a fact so your argument is not only misguided but wrong too.

Last time I checked, under Bush, they still had to get a warrant. Under Obama, they did as they pleased.

This post is wrong on so many levels.

The problem is what happened was illegal and broke the laws of this country. It doesn't matter if you don't do anything wrong or not. There are laws and procedures that had to be followed and weren't.

Under Bush, the program ok'd domestic spying on phone calls as long as one party was calling from outside of the US. That didn't happen here. Instead, Obama authorized the program to spy on his own people.

    This is a huge scandal.

I'm all for it too Smoke... BUT.... BUT... what if these penny pinching bit#$ of a govt we have... start keeping a record of us and what we do? What we earn? Etc. That's what bothers me. Personally I believe we don't make what most do... in malicious illegal activity... but the infrastructure is probably so solid... one day we'll probably get a tax bill in the mail. That's what I don't like. I don't trust our govt. And they don't even do a good job covering up what they do. It's like a thief who drops things during a robbery. The govt is so careless... they wanted the word to get out what they're doing. They don't give a sh#$.

Do you honestly think wiretapping a phone call and reading people's emails is going to stop a potential terrorist attack?

There were not wiretaps, listening devices were placed but because the burglary was caught in process there was not a wiretap ...only listening devices placed.

also Nixon knew nothing about this.

Nixon's resignation came from covering up the event after he found out about it, not ordering it

Agree with Philly on this one

Nixon was probably a bad President in his day because times were different 40 years ago.
Despite reading all of his accomplishments:
    China
    ERA
    ending the draft
    anti-crime
    balanced budget
    airlift out of Vietnam
    EPA
    ending segregation in the south

Can't help but think Nixon would be a good President if he was around now.

    Obama's accomplishment:
happened to be the President when Osama Bin Laden was killed

They impeached Nixon for wiretapping his own office?

    What's so bad about that??

that's BS, you should be able to do whatever you want to your own office, including wiretap it! How did they get away with that??

Philly must only know of Nixon from history books I'm assuming he was born by the time Nixon left office.

Nixon would have been eventually impeached for covering up knowledge of a criminal activity not for wiretapping or initiating the illegal activity

I don't know what the fukk you're talking about and, apparently, neither do you.

Nixon is not the subject of this thread, Obama is.

Secondly, a grand jury did convict all five men who broke into the watergate as well as G. Gordon Liddy and E. Howard Hunt "for conspiracy, burglary, and violation of federal wiretapping laws".

To say that wiretapping was not involved in the watergate scandal is patently false.

Grand juries do not acquit or a convict...
    They indict or don't indict

Listening devices were placed, but no conversations ever listened in on so a wiretap did not occur

The first words of your thread title
NIXON WIRETAPPED AN OFFICE...Nixon was not indicted, and nobody ever suggested he was in the Watergate that night

You are embarrassing yourself more and more with each post.
I was in high school during Watergate hearings...you only have your info from wikipedia.

Nixon ultimately took the fall for Watergate as the only sitting US Prez to ever resign to this day because of it.

Yes, the grand jury indicted them...which led to their convictions.

Whether or not any conversations were listened to is beside the point.
