uncle just passed away
dont want any points , dont want nothing. just a quick blessing to God for him would be appreciated. died of a lung infection. only one antibiotic was left that he wasn't resistant to. chartered a plane for him to the US but it was to no avail. he was 67 years old which is a decent life but nowadays is considered pretty young. most of all he was a man that kept the family together. a real people person. just a quick blessing from fellow posters. thanks.

the hard part comes now with all the crying and hugging from his wife, sisters, etc. and how to console them. i am really not good at that sort of thing. except patting them on the back and saying God will take care of him. sounds cliche but what else am i supposed to do.

RIP was referencing your Uncle Wulf. As in may he rest in peace. As far as consoling people you just have to tell them he is in a better place and probably looking down saying "what is all the fuss about? I am ok up here!" or something to that effect.
It is not what is said that matters, it is that you are there in this difficult time to listen, console the family, and just share memories of your uncle that really matters.
When I 1st heard someone say this to me I thought to myself "Jesus, what a douche."
Now that I am getting much older i am beginning to realize that it rings true.
So, instead of saying "RIP", now I say, "Aren't you glad it wasn't you?"
Usually the answer is a resounding, "Yes!"

That sucks man...I know the feeling...never met any of my grandfathers....both of my grandmothers and mother passed away between the ages of 9 and 11 for me....and honestly my life has never been the same since my mother passed...ive never really felt fully alive...and I cant help but wonder who or what id be now if she were still alive....I would have loved to have been able to have an adult relationship with her

thank you all, bobby losing a mother is the worst, without mine i don't know what i would do. i'd probably give up on life . my mom and i are very close and talk to one another at least once a week. im real sorry to hear that bobby.

jay i think RIP is a solid expression for those who have passed away. really got nothing to do with me . to think i'm glad it wasn't me is kinda selfish i think.
thanks archie, but it wasn't cancer. it was some lung infection where 3 different types of bacteria were attacking his lung at once. and he became resistant to all the antibiotics.
