    So I go out of the country for a week...parked one of my cars on the street right outside of my house - I do this all the time. Anyhow last night when I came back I found this on my windshield. There is no parking restrictions on our street...no garbage day... no hourly bullshit..none of that.

    I don't think they can ticket you like that. Unless they can prove you haven't moved your car in a while.

    Here, we have scams. There's a HSBC bank near me that arranged a deal with a crooked towing company run by thugs. They wait for people to park in the lot and if you don't go directly into the bank, they steal your car and hold it for ransom.

    happens all the time in Cali also...took a coworker for lunch one day...went to BkofAma to get cash out of the atm and parked my car there...her and I are dining and my jaw just dropped when I saw my car is being towed away.
    I fukking went ballistic on the bank and their security personal...eventually they refunded my towing charges...but it was a mess

    I didn't have enough money to pay, had to have the asshole thug drive me back home in his tow truck (with my car attached). Otherwise they take it to impound and charge even more.

    My cousin used to do that in San Fran, only problem is once you move it far enough where the chalk mark from earlier starts showing up again. He ended up getting 8 tickets in a day.

    But here's my other point. Who in the hell is watching these vehicles? How do they know you were on a trip or a vacation? It must be some city cop running the same route in his patrol car and noticed your car hasn't moved.... but seriously... how did they know if or when you moved it? You might be working a shift... and just park the car ever time on that cops shift... and it looks like you didn't move it? It's just really weird to me. Must have a damn camera on you 24/7?

    Sorry Rocket, but this is standard. I once got a ticket for being in a snow removal zone when it was 50 degrees and hadn't snowed in weeks. It's all a hustle to get the city it's $. It's impossible to park on any U.S. University or the street of a major city. Everything is meant to be moving at all times. As far as the people complaining about the towing "scam." Once you leave the establishment of the lot you are parked in, you're no longer considered a patron. Find a parking garage, it will save you headaches and $.
