    What do you guys drink?

I used to be a heavy beer chugger, had to stop because it was penetrating up my kidneys really badly.

Lately the only beverage I enjoy is vodka with a little water.

Other then that, nothing else quite fits my pallete.

I'll have a ceaser but only if I am dealing with an outstanding bartender, 90 percent of those are ****** up beyond description by inept bartending.

    Discuss.

I usually drink imported whiskey, Bushmills or Jameson. I have some Maker's Mark that was given to me as a gift and I think it's as good or better. Today I am drinking Fris Canadian vodka, freeze distilled whatever that means.

Sherry: Lustau Papirusa Manzanilla (One of the best you can buy. Great when it's game time and you're enjoying a nice cigar afterwards. It doesn't get much better when it comes to sherry, in Spain there are some small Bodegas producing even better stuff from time to time.)

Whisk(e)y: Glenfiddich (12 year old does the job, 21 or 30 years old are even better, but more expensive)
Talisker (10 or 18 years, both are absolutely first class whiskys)
(Many more I love of course, but just to mention my 2 favourite ones right now)

Anis: Anis del Mono (Vicente Bosch). Be sure to get the seco, not the dulce! The dulce is ok, but very sweet, to sweet for me. The seco is absolutely great.
A Pernod or Pastis before a meal (f.e. while waiting for the grill to heat up) is always a good choice.

Redwine: Too much great wines to mention them all. First and most important though: Forget about german and italian wines. French wines are good, but often overprized. Go and get the ones from Spain. Best quality for best price. A damn lot of great wines.

Beer: Nothing wrong with a nice beer (or more) when it's hot. Germany is the place to be when it comes to beer. But I must admit: When visiting Bruges last year, I had a whole lot of damn fine beer there.

Other than that: Gin Tonic, Cuba Libre, Caipirinha, all drinks made with some fine rum all fit well for me.

Its largely a Canadian beverage, not too well known outside of the country.

The base is Vodka with Clamato (a mixture of clam broth and tomato juice), Worstershire, Tobasco, Celery Salt, Lime, and seasonings.

Each bartender has thier on variation on this, some are amazing, some are not so great. The best variation came from a restaurant where I was sous chef, I used to brine several types of thai chillies over the course of two weeks, the bartender would add the brining solution and the whole peppers to the beverage.

I love Jameson and Makers, but whiskey makes me go crazy.

Not a bloody mary, no. Similar, but while a Bloody Mary is made with tomato juice, a Ceasar is made with tomato juice and clam broth.
