    bankruptcy?

Has anyone ever filed for bankruptcy before. I'm really thinking about doing it, but I'm kind of scared to. I pay 1400 a month in loans alone. Not counting 11000 in cc debt. I'm sick as fukk about it. Will bankruptcy ruin me?

If you can't pay off your debt in 5-6 years, and not planning a house in the next 6-8 years, file for it. You won't get a new CC for a few years but if you are high in debt and can barely make monthly payment that's the best option for you.

Bankruptcy ruin you? in the 80's it was taboo. These days anyone who is in deep debt and dosent file for bankruptcy is a idiot. I tell people to get a good job and good credit at a earlier age. When your 20 get yourself in 150k in debt then file bankruptcy. 3 years later you can buy a house. I know people that have filed bankruptcy and have ************ a year later and a house 2 years later. Ive never done it but i dont blame them. This country allows it.

My dad went from having a credit score so low he needed to get a secured card to having a 800 credit score in 3 years and buying a house with a 3.65% rate

What about bankruptcy scares you? you don't wear a sign saying you filed for bankruptcy. Absolutely no one will know. You can keep your home and wipe out all debt besides the student loans.

You talk to any attorney... he'll say do you want to keep your house? If the payments are too high... let it go. He'll ask you do you want to keep your car? Typically you won't have credit for about 6 months or so... so I'd keep the car. It's up to you though. Then, he'll say max out your C Cards. Buy whatever you want. I wouldn't do any cash advances though. Just stuff you always wanted... etc. If you plan on keeping the house... maintain your payments on the home. If you don't want it... stop making the house payments. Same applies for your car. Keeping the car? Continue making your payments.. ON TIME. As for your CC's. Don't make anymore payments. There is a 180 day bankruptcy waiting period on your last transaction on any of your CC's. But don't worry... it's standard procedure. Make sure you shoot for a Chapter 7. Don't let an attorney convince you to do a Chapter 13... that's reorganization or restructuring current debts. You don't want that. Some attorneys go that route because they want to make more money off of you. A typical Chapter 7 bankruptcy charge would be around $1,100 - $1,500. If you pay anything more... the attorney is hustling you. GL to you.

Company's don't charge high interest because they choose to. They charge interest to gauge risk. If you default on a unsecured loan there is nothing they can do. Bankruptcy protects you from lenders coming after you. That is the point of it all.

Ability to establish credit again to buy a home and get line of credit is dependan from person to person. I have heard people getting their credit back and buying a home as early as you stated, but I've also heard of people taking much longer some about 5-6 years to get it. I'm giving him the longer time "just incase" for planning.

Money. I'm definitely keeping my house and my car. My car is a lease. I have 3 ************ with zero balances will those places drop me as a customer? And if you were me what would you do. 1400 a month on gambling debt is no joke and that's not counting the CC's or 401k loan which will stay with me. $400 a month on phone and cable is sickening. I only make 65 to 70k a year.

Contact a lawyer. Seek help and stop gambling, you are obviously a degenerate. Also, why are you paying 400 on phone and cable if you are that much in debt? Buy the lowest thing you can if you cannot live without cable, otherwise just cut it out of your life. Spend some time planning your finances so you don't get into this mess again. Best of luck pal

Consult with a bankruptcy lawyer, consults are free. Usually find them advertising in the classifieds of your local paper, or just use google. Players talk and internet forums in general are poor places to look for help making important decisions.

could always burn your house down and try and collect insurance

if you got a grill that has a propane tank, have an accident in a December cookout, a propane tank gettin loose in the kitchen from the patio/deck can be devastating to a house. BOL
