Blink-182, where do you stand on them?
First off, I never begrudge people for success. They started from ground zero. Improved over time, sold more records than they probably ever thought possible.

I find them to at least be an interesting case study. How many bands emulated them and tried to take the same path?

    2) The Tom Delonge interviews from 2005 were probably as honest as anybody can be. When you start a band at age 17, you can't expect those guys to be the same when they get to age 30.

    3) How much do you think Mark really hates Tom? I'm sure Mark's thinking was that they put in the hard work. Now is the time to ring the cash-register. Take time off? Are you insane?

    4) Travis Barker is a pretty awesome drummer. Props to that guy. Seems like the Engergizer Bunny.

    5) There's something about admiration for an artist's work. I enjoy listening to maybe seven of their songs. Some of it I find to be un-listenable.

But there has to be some integrity to that. Credit to Mark, he knew when he was writing a song for commercial success. And he knew when he was writing a song that might mean something just to him.

Seems like I'm rambling. Do these guys have one more chapter in them?
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

          Kidding of course.

Extremely talented band, not my go to genre, but I give credit where credit is due.

Life is funny. Scott Raynor (the original drummer) is in this photo.

He was super-young when he joined the band, like 14. He's in the "Dammit" video. Not too long after that, they got tired of his drinking. Let him go. But really, I think they saw that the replacement (Travis) was a much better drummer.

Raynor played in a few bands since. But in comparison, it's like he's practically out of the industry. Them's the breaks.

Respect your opinion. One school of thought is that they got very lucky on a few songs and hit it big.

I think Barker is talented. The other two guys have to rate very high on the (Net Worth-to-Talent) ratio.

Talented. Tom has gone a little off the rails with the aliens and UFO's and the 'To the stars Academy' but there's some good songs there.

No worries. I've listened to some of their early concerts, pretty bad. Sounded more polished later on.

Bottom line, they made a lot of Dead Presidents. Someone was listening to them.
