Techie question. Easiest fix for a corrupted laptop

Is it as simple as using a new startup disk? I need a quick and easy fix for a corrupted laptop. Or is there something I can do at startup to fix it.

what laptop, sb? with HP, you can hold down the f11 key and it will walk you through a complete system recovery and reset the computer back to its factory settings...of course you lose everything, but you also chuck any of the bad shit it has on it...save your important stuff with something

I just used a registry cleaner that accidentally knocked out allot of my computers functions.

I have an old Acer,I had to go back to factory settings to wipe system clean and start fresh.

Moral of the story,be very careful using heavy duty registry cleaners.

Do you have a second computer? Do you have a buddy that will let you burn a cd?

Boot into your computer with a "linux live cd". Access your hard drive through the live cd, and copy your files off.

Once you have copied your files off THEN do a system factory reset.

If you format now, you lose all your data. Just download a copy of ubunty desktop to a cd, and then boot from the cd in the computer.

Let me know if this does not work for you.
