I use a HP Z Book Studio mobile workstation. Love the workstation grade components (Xeon / Quadro) in a laptop form factor.

I'm an I/T Operations Analyst by trade, IBM mainframes primarily.
        I bleed IBM Big Blue.

I use Lenovo products at home.

Lenovo was IBM in the 90's IBM's main interest though is not in the PC.
As a matter of fact IBM refused to get on the PC craze in the the late 80's, the executives thought the PC fad would fade away.
Six years later when the home PC business exploded the executive were forced to rethink their position, trust me IBM's early refusal to get on board almost bankrupt them.

There isn't a flawless home PC, all of them have a minor issue or two.
For instance I think (not because of the IBM tie) Lenovo is the best bang for the buck, Lenovo laptops have minor keyboard issues on some of their models.

HP is a close second IMO, HP is about 10 percent more costly.

I still can't find the perfect printer for a laptop.
Almost all laptop printers have either jam issues, or ink issues......

Which is why I'm thinking of swathing back to an all in one for the home or a custom built desktop.
I need a hassle free printer at home, fast printing, non jamming printer.

Anything But a Toshiba. I've had 2 laptops and one was a Toshiba. The worst experience ever!

              Nice tower.

Dell consistently gives you a good product too.

Dell is like a Buick auto, not elite but rock solid dependable.

You know you're dealing with old people when desktop brand names are mentioned instead of component brand names.

Laptops sure there are different brands but when it comes to desktop pcs nowadays you buy the components and build it yourself.

Cheaper, better quality and easy to do

Ha - I still use a 10 year old Lenovo i5 Z580 15.5" that I *upgraded* the RAM to 6G years ago and recently swapped in a SSD. Upgraded from 7 to 8 to Windows 10 and currently using Office 2010 as I think that's the latest free version that doesn't require subscription. Have a 27" Samsung monitor and external keyboard/mouse and added a 1 to 4 USB3.0 splitter.

Only problems I have had over a decade of heavy use were 1 broken USB port, had to resolder the charging port wires, and replaced a noisy fan 1 time ( these old Lenovos replacing the fan requires total disassembly) and my backspace key has disappeared.

IMHO the best gift you can give yourself for home computing (assuming you already have SSD) is Pi-Hole or something similar. $80 for a Raspberry Pi kit on Amazon and you can download and setup network wide ad blocking in about an hour using just YouTube videos. Its crazy how much tracking/ad loading goes on with every page you click - CNN, as an example, loads about 60+ ads or trackers per page. Nutty!

I'm going custom within a year.
I'm heavy computing though unlike most who are heavy gaming these days.

I've consulted on some gaming pc's.
                                Heavy metal for sure.

People always say that but I did some research before I bought my desktop and it would have cost more to build myself. It makes sense a company can do it cheaper than I can. Imagine trying to build a car just by buying parts. I can’t negotiate with companies to give me part discounts like dell can.

                                    Toshiba TV's are so underrated.
I just bought a new Samsung Smart TV because I got it 40 percent off which I am loving by the way.

That replaced my 12 year old Toshiba TV that gave a perfect picture and not one ounce of trouble. Ever.
If I didn't get such a good deal on the Samsung I would have bought another Toshiba.

But yeah, their pc's are not good.

By the way I really appreciated your previous post (#12)
Thanks for some of that info.

                                          I'm a Lenovo lifer.
HP would be my second choice but HP would really have to blow me away with a product to get my to switch.
My mind is made up, I am upgrading this Lenovo later this year for a heavy metal computing Lenovo (I am numbers cruncher, not a gamer though)

Lenovo's prices are about 10 percent to 20 percent across the board better than HP
Both are what I think the best pc's you can buy out of the 'box stores' (you know Best Buy, etc.)

                                                    "Lenovo."

Lenovo was IBM's PC manufacturing biz. Bought out and rebranded by china.

Does china really make quality PCs/laptops?

I just have a regular 17 inch gaming laptop. Runs like a champ. Only drawback is lack of CD/DVD drive.

Yeah, I mentioned Lenovo was IBM and IBM doesn't really want to be in the PC business, IBM is corporate mainframes etc. etc. and corporate software
                                                      Yeah, China makes good components.
