A lot more people will get sick once the economy opens back up.

#73Agree we can't wait until ever case is gone, but now is too soon. Be smart. It won't be that long from now, but follow the science. Mid to late May probably be OK. Too soon and it immediately goes back to where it was and we're fukked. Do it right the first time. We didn't do this for a whole month already only to blow and deal with Wave 2 and Wave 3 and on. Be smart!
That's all you need so resume life and restart the economy NOW i say and roll with it!! I don't think it will REALLY flare up again if we keep restrictions in place as we are doing now.
Distance everyone in restaurants, bars, churches and movie theaters.. Wear masks and Get creative!!Last edited by JIBBBY; 04-15-20, 08:31 PM.Comment -

#77I don't go out a lot to begin with the last few years since ramping up gambling activities so I don't give a shit
I've been working this whole stupid pandemic... been safe and cautious and here I am.
the people who want to go hit up dumbass clubs and go to bars and drink their woes away... penetrate it let them. If they end up with it and die... that's on them
Now... if I go to an NFL game I will be prepared and as cautious as possible for that. wear mask... Ill eat beforehand and wipe down seat if that hasn't already been done... etc
life can't just be stopped forever because "there is no vaccine" .... penetrate that shit
Life can stop for a year to protect us all for the next 50 years. You can take every precaution in the world and still end up getting it, and what if God forbid, you're ok, but you pass it to your mom, or your aunt, or someone.
Imagine if we didn't even have these epidemiologists and scientists to work on these cures. You think you'd be living this long? You'd already have smallpox right now if that were the case, or polio, or something else.
Be grateful for these geniuses we have.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

#81So what we keep everything shut down for 10 years then?
I think we all need to get it if that's the case.. You know one person brings that into a big city 3 years from now it springs right back up.. Just take the PAIN now!! Open up everything and keep masks on and social distancing in play..
Not rocket science.. Corona will never go away EVER!!!! Someone will have it in the world and fly in years from now and here we go again..Comment -

#83Regardless of when economy "opens", people are still going to be extremely hesitant to go outside for leisure or non-necessity. Businesses will continue to suffer and hemorrhage for a long, long time. Who would want to go to a movie theater or concert or s sporting event or the mall to shop? It's a war started by China against the world and they are crushing all nations without a single shot fired or bomb dropped. Brilliant. Or you can believe a country with 2 billion people have under 100,000 infected as they are reporting; the filthiest people and country in the world were talking about.Comment -

#84I say late May is a good time to slowly start re opening certain businesses and services with new laws for wearing masks, sanitizing areas/objects/door handles/seats/etc OFTEN
i love the idea that if i go a see a movie... even if its early in the release that nobody will be in the seat beside me on either side. love it. i always waited till the movie was out for a while before i went to see it if nobody else was interested in seeing it... hate crowded theatre. always some dumb girl with her gigantic phone out illuminating the area in front of me... or some family with a kid (not a baby) that won't shut up or is running in and out of the room 10x
someone behind me who doesn't know how to chew their popcorn with their mouth closed
penetrate i hate all that shit with a passion...Comment -

#85Our Governor is gonna start a 3 phase plan beginning next week to open up the economy and businesses...
Why?
Because we have the testing capabilities for everyone?
Because we are below the national mortality rate?
Because we have seen a steady drop in positive cases and/or deaths related to the vurus?
No.. No... No...
It's because we have the hospital beds and PPE available for a surge in cases...
Wait.... Huh? WHAT?
Does that make any sense?Comment -

#86Canada is a bad place to be in if you're covid-19 patient.
Canadian healthcare response for this pandemic is utter failure.
There is no significant difference between the Canadian healthcare response and the US healthcare response to this pandemic. If anything the Canadians started measures sooner after witnessing the issues caused by the slow response in the US. Furthermore, hospitalizations and/or treatments won't cost Canadians anything out of pocket - nor could they go bankrupt from a hospitalization - unlike the case that can (and does) occur to so many millions of Americans: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/01/covi...-to-75000.htmlComment -

#87Bro, yes it can. You want this thing to infect 1/4 of the population and kill 50 million ppl like the Spanish flu did? That's what would have already happened by now without these lockdowns, I can guarantee that.

open back up slowly, with caution and new safety standards that must be met... and employees and customers alike will work together to keep everyone as safe as possible
that's the only thing to do next month, and it will happen
you aren't keeping me from playing beach volleyball in the summer with lots of other enthusiasts between the ages of 18 and 40... i bet some of the older players won't play tho (just my guess)Comment -

#105More than 1,600 workers at four Iowa meatpacking plants have been infected with the coronavirus, state health officials reported Tuesday.
The worst-hit factory is the Tyson pork processing plant in Perry, where 730 workers tested positive for the virus, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported. That means that 58% of the workers who were tested at the plant had the virus, Deputy Public Health Department Director Sarah Reisetter said at the state’s daily news conference about the pandemic.
Reisetter also reported outbreak numbers for two other Tyson meatpacking plants.
The plant in Waterloo had 444 workers test positive, which was 17% of those tested. The one in Columbus Junction has 221 workers test positive, which was 26% of those tested. At the Iowa Premium Beef plant in Tama, 258 workers tested positive, which was 39% of those tested, she said.
In addition, Reisetter announced that 131 workers of the TPI Inc. wind-turbine plant in Newton have tested positive for the virus, which was 13% of those tested.Comment
