Found an iPad in a grocery store. What would you do?

Found this iPad. Want to keep it. I know how to reset the iPad and all, but it was in a grocery store and there were cameras, of course. Would you take it back to the store and give it to the customer service desk? Call the police? Email the person? Wondering what I could do, and not get into trouble for it.

Did you check out using a rewards card or whatever from the store?

Hey, I gotta be careful! I checked out using my DC. Well, I decided to play the safe route and called the police to file a report. They will be here sometime this evening. I will be filing it with the intent to claim the item, however. If, within thirty days, it is not claimed by the owner, I get to take ownership of it. That is, if a cop doesn't "claim" it first. Ha!

Damn it! I hate cops! My city's code explains that in order to claim a lost item, you must turn it in and file a report. This damn cop is just taking it back to the store, despite my request to file a report and later claim ownership after 30 days. AH!

not sure why the police would take it to the store. it was never the stores property, they should inform the store in caae owner comes looking.
even if the people never check with store/police (unlikely) those ipads have antitheft tracking

if you really wanted the rightful owner to have it back, you would've returned it to the store's customer service dept since that's the first place the owner will check. the owner will likely not call the police dept and you know that.
