Head to a forum like the www.redflagdeals.com Personal Finance & Hot Deals sections, where a lot of people are doing this. I do this myself in TFSA accounts, so I don't pay any tax on the gains either.
BTW, while I haven't seen any banks offering 5% interest yet, some will give a cash bonus, which if you do the math on the required term will come out to a 5% gain.
show me 5% or any of these deals you're talking about. This threads shows none.
The Official RFD thread for Savings Accounts! (Updated 15/12/2018)
but that doesn't come close to the requirements as stated in title of thread and first post. Again, that is limited.
also, that is NEW clients only.
5% on 250k would be $12500

International banking maybe but you wont have an FDIC type insurer
Highest you'll find in USA is 2.5% money market usually $10k min
That said, if you wanna convert your dollars into other currency in, say, Venezuela, then yah you might get 30% interest but you can wipe your ass with the currency because you'll never see your dollars again

The bet was 5 percent on a saving account. Nothing to do with 250k. That was a discussion 5 pages earlier. The bet was this:
Brooks: You can’t get 5 percent on savings account anywhere
Vitterd: wanna bet
Brooks: Any amount you want
Vitterd: Bet 10k

I wasn't wrong about anything. I posted a legitimate bank offer that backed up what I originally stated.

actually you are 100% wrong.
also, the links you posted were proven to be wrong.
AND, you have no proof of anyone doing what you claim because no bank would allow you to re-open an account and hit them up for a NEW Account bonus.

No, the links I posted were not proven to be wrong. Several hundred people on that forum took advantage of that HSBC promo. These guys churn ************ for multiple introductory bonuses too.
There, I just made your head explode enlightening you to the fact that some people of higher intelligence and reading comprehention think outside the box & exploit bonus offers in order to get ahead financially.

then how come I proved them wrong and you've done nothing to retort it?
again, no bank is going to let you hit them up for new accounts over and over so you are 100% wrong. FACT.
Also, only foolish people would waste their time, 15 months, for 6% at $300 cap
notice you said people move their money every few months yet you've shown no accounts that could do that? Because it doesn't happen.
You can earn 5% at some banks with deposit promo's, but these are strictly short-term and usually capped at $100,000. If you don't mind transferring your money around every few months you can chase promo's and earn way more than the standard rate.

You are in denial or just trolling at this point, so this is going to be my last post in this thread. The HSBC offer was 6%, so that proves my point and ends further debate on that.
You are also thinking like a poor person if you scoff at $300 in free money... You don't seem to realize that these bank offers in Canada come around every season; you can complete ones at several different banks annually and make a few thousand easy dollars. Most banks do allow people to repeat lump-sum bonus offers after a waiting period of 1-5 years, and clients are always eligible to repeat interest rate bonuses.
I have nearly a dozen bank accounts and self-directed brokerage accounts myself, and will transfer money to whoever has the best rate/offer at the moment. It'd be foolish not to.
Why don't you start a thread at RFD asking how many folks move their money around to chase the best rates/offers? I think you'd be surprised to find just how many people on the forum do exactly that.
