A lot of the abortion debate revolves around how long should a woman be pregnant until she can no longer have an abortion.
Well one of my college professors, Professor Sanders, thought that not only should abortion be legal all the way up to birth, but 6 months AFTER birth as well.
He said that a parent or parents have no idea what they are in for when having a baby, and that they should be able to try out being a parent for 6 months to see if parenting is for them. If its not, they should be allowed to terminate the baby.
He said that having a baby can bring in unexpected financial commitments, time constraints, and such and its just not possible to prepare for such obligations. Therefore there should be a way out for those whose hands are full and are getting more than what they thought they were getting.
He compared it to a cash back guarantee. You know, how some products you can try for 30 days and if you are unsatisfied, get a refund? He said babies should be the same way. Try it out for 6 months, if you are unsatisfied, terminate it.
He said that its not a big deal because babies don't even know they exist for the first 6 months of their existance. He challenged us asking if we remember anything about our first 6 months of our lives. No one did, so he said the baby would not even know its being killed or was killed.
He finished by saying that a woman or parents should not be weighed down and restricted on what they want to do in life because of a baby and should be able to terminate the baby to accomplish what they want to accomplish in life. He said in a country of freedom, it is against liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness to be obligated to have a baby they don't want, since its restricting freedom and liberty.
What do you think of Professor Sanders' abortion views?
