Very close to pulling the trigger on Vizio's new 14" i7 Ultrabook.

Vizio spent 2 years developing this 14" sexy beast, been eying it since they introduced the pre-production version at CES back in January.

$1199 for better specs than the MacBook Air which has a smaller, lower res screen.

Same specs on the 13" MacBook Air as the 14" Vizio would run you $1599.

Great article here about Vizio's entry into the top-end Windows PC market..

One thing that turns me off is no backlit keyboard. It's one feature I thought was useless but now that I have it on my Series 9 I find it very useful

Samsung 9 definitely looks sleek as well, but it's only 13" and would cost ~$500 more than the Vizio to achieve the same specs as the i7 14" Vizio.

I rate this 14" Vizio as a Very Strong Buy - incredible quality and value.

Edit: Agreed frogs. The non-backlit keyboard is my only complaint on this beauty, was very disappointed they didn't roll this out with one. I often use that feature on my current laptop as well.

Exactly, it has good value. I'd get a Vizio over a Macbook Air any day. I have always been a Windows guy and Macbook Air is too trendy/expensive for my tastes.

I do prefer 13'' over 14'' due to a smaller form factor though. The Vizio is faster and has a better screen than my Samsung. It really all comes down to what you prefer more.

Vizio makes good product for less...

I would say it's worth it

True. 14" has been a sweet spot size since my last 3 ThinkPads have been 14" and trying to go down to 13" has just been too hard, thus my increased interest in this Vizio when I saw it at CES. FYI, the 14" Vizio is only 0.6" wider than the Samsung.. it squeezes the 14" into its unibody very well.

How is a 14" screen too small? It's the perfect size and only weights 3.4 lbs with very slim form factor so it'll be great to carry around.

No need for both a tablet and full notebook if you just get this instead.
