    Painting sells for $119,900,000

    "Scream" by Edvard Munch

I remember that Bread used this painting to illustrate one of his articles on SBR.

I'm sure that is one of the main reasons for its amazingly high value

I've been going around thinking Scream was one of the paintings that got robbed from a museum a few years ago. Guess not.

I'm gonna make that image full page size, print 2 of 'em out, and make $240 million dollars.

The reason for the value is due to its status symbol for the mega rich , not the quality of the art. It's also an investment to some. Most of the buyers of these art pieces are billionaires or corporations. Once you've obtained that level of wealth, a new Ferrari or nice house aint shit so the next level up is to own rare paintings.

It's a smart investment if you can afford it as almost all of the rare paintings from the masters have skyrocketed (all of Van Goghs/Picasso/Warhol's main masterpieces are valued at well over $100 million each and most of these were purchased for about $50 million or less just a few years ago).

Edward Munch painted four versions of " The Scream". The version sold was the only version privately owned. Another version was stolen a few years ago, but later recovered.

More than a hobby, it's an investment. Unlike stocks or other types of investments, it is highly improbable that you will lose money. I bet this thing is valued at 150 million in 10 years.

Someone paid $120m for a painting knowing there are 3 other versions out there? He needs to find a way to ruin the other 3.

The guy bought it so it's his right? What if just because, he decided to destroy it? Have it filmed and put it on youtube for the record, leave comments enabled. So worth it.
