I'm guessing by book value you are talking ad rates. Book value tends to be an accounting term that quantifys the value of a company's assets. But yes, ad rates can be lower in the offseason. Some sites only sell yearly sponsorships so they are not bannerless in the slow season. Some will simply throw in the slow season.

    NO

They have no money, horrific work forces
    Horrific set ups

Stay away guy.........SBR is a real unique site, great work force and that is why it separates itself from the rest

Walker runs a zero tolerance policy here

What if there wasn't free anything and SBR was just a players' advocate site with a few extras? Or, what if to be a member of the site, everyone had to chalk up a monthly subscription and the points system stayed? Just some thoughts.
It would appear that the SBRstore and SBRsportsbook sites generate a minimal amount of traffic and the Pro system is not widely used in comparison to forum posting numbers. The abuse of the point system by some has got to make the whole idea more trouble than it is worth.

Not sure about the Pro system, I joined it but have yet to discover the worth. Never taken it seriously so I can't comment with any degree of validity.

I would think a monthly fee would kill these sites completely. They are often suggested by those who feel that the forums are all about them. That approach is not a moneymaker.

I agree that this site is quite well run and has much more to offer than even the competing site. Really enjoy it here.

The other ones in question are obviously on life support.

It is your opinion that a good business model could not save them?

The scope of the gambling landscape for forums has changed a lot also. We had some really good football cappers in the past with great writeups insteads of losing locks all the time. It used to be helpful information, now it's damn near Facebook and twitter. So we are losing hard core gamblers and picking up socialites who are never consistent and just passing through to check out the worse train wreck or dumpster fire. The hard core gambler needs to take over again. The hard core gambler needs gambling information, not consistent photoshopped air bets.

I doubt a good business model can save them, way too much damage and way too much competition

Growth is in Canada, UK, Asia, Aussie, ect

Well SBR John and JJ as well as others have given me some very good input. If they are no one to you that is your business.

You on the other hand are no one to me........... to be quite honest with you. Just another two bit full of himself fuk with his tampon shoved up too high. Another who is too busy jacking off on his own chin to be part of an intelligent discussion.

I will wind you up like the fukkin toy you are. In the interest of generating traffic for the site.

Feel free to respond in your most unintelligent manner. You two bit fuks alway do.

That would appear to be an across the genre issue. A lot of posters use these things to be part of a social situation and there is nothing wrong with that, to each there own.

Noting John's log in information and viewing the forums, it would appear there are a majority who log in for much more than forum activity anyway.

Solid capping threads are few and far between on this or any other site.

    A couple of points;

Growth in the sports gaming portal business was severely damaged in 2007 by a combination of the global banking meltdown and anti gaming laws world wide but especially in the US. Some portals like Covers and the Rx charged ad rates that were beyond the break even return for advertisers. But advertisers didn't mind the -EV ad campaigns because of the branding. After 2007 sportsbooks who were buying branding suddenly wanted to fly under the radar and in some cases asked to be taken off sites that left them up for free to make it appear they had advertisers.

You know things are tough when clients you used to charge $5000 a month for a banner campaign are demanding that you take down their banners that you are showing for free. It's that exact environment that convinced Covers and all the other portals to cut everything possible and hope for the best.

We decided to remain creative and take advantage of competitors who were no longer investing in their base. During those dark years we invested and developed poker, new odds site, loyalty program, video productions, original content writers, sportsbook & casino, geo targeting and a lot more. It was a gamble that paid off.
