    Donair lovers check in

Possibly my favourite food, just finished chowing down on two of 'em. Garlic sauce is a must, some opt for sweet & sour or hot sauce. Some will add cheese.

    Is it better than pizza?????

Gotta add, it has to be beef! When I started eating them there was only beef donairs, no chicken, pork or whatever.

My first place didn't use veggies, just meat and sauce. And they didn't skimp on the meat. Fuk was it ever good!

Illini, you don't know what you're missing. Search out a kosher place!

I don't think so. The Lebanese run many donair joints where I live. I think gyro is the same thing, different name

Gyros are basically the Greek version of doner kebabs (spelled donair in Canada). I've never had a gyro with anything other than tzatziki sauce; I've had doners with several different sauces, as mentioned by the OP. I've also never seen lettuce on a gyro, whereas doners usually have lettuce. Shawarma is also similar, but every time I've eaten that, it had tahini as the sauce. All three kick ass, though.

Yeah, shawarma is pretty much the same thing. Shawarma is very popular over here, most of the places offering these sandwiches are named Shawarma, not donair.
