Here's a newsflash:
Slavery ended 147 years ago and the U.S. has NEVER had a wall keeping anyone in who doesn't want to be here. If any black or hispanic individual believes the U.S. is biased against them, they are always FREE TO LEAVE and re-locate to other countries that they find suitable.
The plain simple truth is that there has NEVER been a country anywhere on planet Earth that has shown any amount of reasonable productivity where blacks are the majority inhabitants. Residents of Mexico are fleeing in droves as the country is completely corrupt with drug cartels in full control shooting everything up in sight.
Look at the condition of Haiti, Mexico City and all of the various ghettos throughout the U.S and see the people who live in these areas and its easy to see why they are such rotting cesspools.

If a black kid wants to go to college, he/she takes the ACT, scores an average overall score, but can pretty much get into any undergraduate institution that he/she wants because of Affirmative Action. After that, if they want to pursue law school or graduate school of any kind, they'll take another standardized test, score another average pack score, and again affirmative action will bump them into any program they want. After that, they'll go on job interviews with big companies/firms... these companies/firms have quotas that they have to meet, so again, very good chance regardless of grades/interview that this AA candidate will be hired.
At the end of the day, you have a person on step 10 of a process, but they needed assistance to get from step 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10. What did that person really accomplish on their own?
The assassinations of MLK jr. and Malcolm X by the powers that be didn't help. Strange how often people who have the power to bring about racial reconciliation drop dead.
The Rodney King and OJ verdicts (both wrong) didn't help either.
We can tout how segregation is over all we want, but when so many white people flock to the defense of George Zimmerman, it's hard to think how minorities would not believe that the deck is silently stacked against them.
In the end, I think that it's an issue of time and leadership, both from blacks and whites. People my age are far less racist than people my parents age, and it even seems like kids ten years younger than me have a way higher level of racial tolerance/harmony. As the (largely 65+) Limbaugh/Hannity listening crowd dies off, there won't be a market for their kind of hate, and maybe we won't have so much racism to talk about, and Morgan Freeman's wish can come true.
Stacked against them? Get out in the real world. If a black person scores a 154 on the LSAT (50th percentile) he is ushered into Harvard with a full ride.
A white guy needs a 175 (99 percentile) to even get a partial scholarship to Harvard.
Any acceptance process basically states that a white person needs to be exceptionally smart and gifted to even be on the same level as a mediocre black person. It is a huge problem and it is part of why there is still racial tension.

I agree that the way affirmative action is carried out needs to be changed, although I think you exaggerate.
When minorities see a difference in the way they are treated by law enforcement, there is a problem. When minorities see the difference in how they are treated when they go out with black friends or white friends (or even light-skinned friends), there is a problem.
I went to a bar in Nashville once on a business trip, and they would not let our black colleague in to join us. His "shirt was too baggy". I don't think they'll miss the business of six yankees. Racism is quite real, I promise.
When it feels like white people are out to get you, and they have all the power, don't you think that might breed a little more resentment than the ease with which you can get scholarships? Blame the insane tuition/loan system that makes us unable to work through college these day, not minorities. My parents paid their tuition upfront with restaurant jobs. You can only even come close to that at community college now.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, tells us all we need to know about the reality baskets lives in.
