    Would alcohol be as popular as it is if it was a pill instead?

    I was thinking...

    Alcohol is pretty much a social drug. What if alcohol wasn't a liquid, but instead a pill that you pop (but would still give the same effects). Would it still be popular? Cocaine used to be sold everywhere legally in a liquid form about 100 years ago.

    what is the closest high to liquer in pill form? Iknow its not weed ,not painkillers or musle relaxers? are there any pills like drinking I don't think so , but I am not an expert.

    As a bartender, I can easily say people drink alcoholic beverages for reasons other than their intoxicating effects.

    I know that alcohol is a social drug, but I would assume that people drink alcohol for it's intended effects. Perhaps not intoxication, but at least to relax. Maybe it's done on a subconcious level?
