Places are always hiring writers although it slows down after fb and most work is pt which means NO benefits. Entry level jobs like players club, front desk, bar runner are easy to get if you can do a few things. Dress professional for interview, act outgoing in interview, be able to pass a drug test(usually hair 90 days) as well as a background check.

Go to the major casinos websites and check job postings to see what is out there. MGM, Caesars, Stations, Boyd, Venetian, Wynn, Cannery.

I would recommend looking in SW part of city. Go west of Buffalo to be in a decent neighborhood. Most places within 5 miles of strip are ghetto.
