NEW YORK (AP) — Andy Rooney so dreaded the day he had to end his signature "60 Minutes" commentaries about life's large and small absurdities that he kept going until he was 92 years old.

That's what happens to old people. They retire from work and die. I wasn't a big fan to be honest. This happened about 30 years too late for the crusty old bastard. Not sure why people like him prattling on about nothing at all for so many years.

    Thanks blackbeSST.
I didn't know that Andy Rooney had died.
I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

He has a distinguished career as a
    well-respected journalist long before becoming
a fixture on 60 Minutes. He cut his teeth reporting from Europe
after he was drafted in 1941.
He wrote for "Stars and Stripes" from the front lines during WWII.
He flew with the first bombing attack over
enemy lines in Germany. He was one of 6 reporters that continued to report
    while flying on bombing missions.

A pacifist reporting the horrors of war...He became convinced that there are "just wars"
when he was among the first to encounter a German
    concentration camp and the horror
    of the camp's survivors.

    Rest In Peace Andy

Andy Rooney Dead at Age of 92

One of the pioneers of television. Always spoke his mind and was very entertaining. Passed away from complications after minor surgery.
