The Occupy Movements across the UNITED STATES

Just wondering if people from across the country could post whats happening in their fellow cities during this period of time. I live in San Francisco and yesterday took a walk to go take a look at the camp set up for Occupy San Francisco and the folks their are camped in and its spreading into the financial district slowly.

I was in History Today and my professor told us that Occupy Oakland is going to be a historical movement tomorrow if the expected crowd of over 1000 people attend.

If you got pissed that BkofA charged you, you should switch banks. I don't know why people think they have the right to dictate how a company does business.

What bank would I switch to? I can't switch to a small bank with no ATMS around me that becomes an important matter.

"The cops are the 99 percent, but they're doing the work of the 1 percent. Wall Street is proud of them every time they clear out an encampment,” Meyers added.

I just bought a bunch of batteries to bring over to the Occupy Las Vegas site aka: Area 99. Things have been very peaceful here and the cops have been very cooperative.

    Don't feed the trolls, dude.

Also, take a look to see if there are any credit unions in your area. They are essentially not-for-profit banks and are much more reasonable in terms of rules and fees.

This is EXACTLY the mindset of your "Occupier" supporter. He wants the convenience of an ATM around every corner but doesn't want to pay an extra $5/month for that service.

BkofAma's decision to do away with their proposed $5/month charge for debit cards had NOTHING to do with the Occupy movement and everything to do with PURE CAPITALISM which is what the Occupy movement is trying to do away with.

CollegeOverUnder, why aren't you braving the cold weather along with the rest of the "Occupiers"?
Going to be great when these things turn violent and they start pulling rich people out of their homes and giving them the beat down they deserve.
EmilyHaines, if anyone deserves to get smashed in the head with a police baton, ITS YOU!!!!

If these occupiers do turn violent, they will wind up dead and the country will greatly benefit.

The majority of people who spend their lives trolling SBR aren't demanding others to financially support them as are the Occupiers.

well its not cold out here so that can get crossed off, but I can't afford to miss school or take days off of work I work my fking ass off to live a shitty life.

As far as you thinking I'm an Occupier I was seriously just interested in what was going on across the country. I couldn't take work off today because I have BILLS, but if I had the ability to I would of jumped on the BART just to go witness this because I really did want to video tape all of this and see such an event happen in my young age.

All my professors encouraged us just to go witness this if we could because they all said it would be something that went down in history

The government controls this world and Americans get stuck paying taxes for a government that doesn't even function properly anymore. If they would actually tax the 1% properly the government would have MILLIONS more dollars accumulated from the rich.

The Health Care System and the DMV are two prime examples

As far as me being an OCCUPIER again though IM NOT. Im just looking for what is happening across the country and I'm very interested in what happens in New York in a few days when another protest occurs.

Side notes student fees at my C.C. are going from $24 a Unit to $50 a Unit next year and most classes are 3 UNITS.

I don't even wanna no what the damage is gonna be at a State or University.

Its also interesting to see so many veterans and soldiers participating in this. The men and women who fought and fight for this government in times of need are joining

And even if you are employed right now and have a good job that doesn't mean shit in this fking country because if the country crashes guess what so does your job and job security.

Its like saying what if the NFL,NHL,College Basketball, MLB, TENNIS, MMA, and every single other pro sport went on strike or started protests. The NBA is already in a lockout but what if College Basketball and NHL were gone to then where does all the traffic on this forum go? Well then this forum would crash, Sportsbooks would crash, and millions would be out of work

They are a business and they have to pay rent for the locations where they locate ATMs. They also have to pay for the machines and the labor to load it full of cash, the account manager, the real estate for the branch, and the people who staff them. They have a right to charge a fee for it. They never did it before because they were allowed to charge an account fee, but changes in the laws reduced some of the revenues they were able to charge for their service. With fewer revenues, they have to cover the expense of managing accounts, which includes paying the employees who work as tellers and the guy who loads the ATM with cash. Or would you rather them just eliminate those jobs? Typical small picture thinking.

If you don't like paying for banking, go get a shovel and a mason jar or just put it in your mattress.

And exactly why are they needing to charge these fees now though? Where does all this money go that the government gave them go? I mean they get bailed out over and over and still the banks manage to spend all the money somehow with all of their wonderful bonuses they give out to corporate.

the funny thing is my old middle school principal used to say that 99% of the students were great students, but the 1%ers were ruining the school i guess some things never change.

How about reading what I said first? There were legislative changes to how much banks could charge for certain services relating to accounts. Because of these changes, banks lost a lot of revenues and have to replace them. With lost revenues, they have to replace that or reduce expenses in order to make a profit. Again, would you rather they find other sources of revenues or just fire a lot of people, or would you rather they never make a profit to repay the bailout money. Of course everyone with small picture thinking would rather get the free service and screw their bottom line. Why is "Profit" such a dirty word? People make investments in companies and should expect their investments to pay off.

Much of the bailout money has been repaid to the government, with interest, which is the best investment the US has made in a long time.

Basically banks can no longer stick it in your ass with fine print surcharges and fees so they are going to compensate for it with big in your face fukk you fees. They wouldn't have needed to resort to this had they operated with half a brain and not sign off on loans that anyone with half a brain knew were dead money.

I see both sides of the coin here, but am happy to see people of America stand up and say shit is fukked up and let's get it fixed. Obama needs to step up and say he hasn't lived up to his election promises and has made some mistakes but he has learned and needs all of us to get together and work to get us back on track. He likely has until 2016 to work shit out since it will be him vs. another stiff in Romney running. Why elect a dipshit who could be in office for 8 years when we know Obama will be here for just 4 more? Besides, Hillary Clinton will be president in 2016 and she'd likely win in 2012 if she wanted to pull a power move and throw herself in.
