    atheist - disbelief in god
agnostic - doesn't know if god exists or thinks it's unknowable

Agnostic is a useless term, an appeal to the middle ground. The average agnostic has the vaguest idea of what it even means and call themselves it to take some crap open-minded approach. Do you say you don't know if Big Foot exists? No, you say I don't believe Big Foot exists.

Atheists are also typically opinionated asses who fancy themselves smarter than others and apart of a special group. Don't believe in magic man? Good for you. Now what? Only perpetuate the issue by drawing attention to yourself with a label for a non-belief. Should be total apathy.

Atheists don't believe in God or a higher power. Technically an agnostic is basically one who believes there's no way to know one way or the other and that no one else knows for sure either; however, many people defining themselves as "agnostic" say they believe in some sort of higher power, just that they don't know what it is.

The primary difference between an atheist and an agnostic is that the atheist does not believe God or gods exist whereas the agnostic is not sure either way because existence of God or gods, they say, cannot be proven.

OK. Thanks for the explanantions although I have to say those who call themselves agnostic should make up their minds. They seem like the types that can't commit one way or another.

Just out of curiosuty whats so wrong with admitting that you dont know?? If you can prove to anyone that the higher being u believe in is 100% real (note NOT personal beliefs) then everyone would bow down to you but the fact is you cant, no-one can...Thats y all religions are based on belief systems and not fact

The amount of theological conversations ive had with both religious types. Can only conclude that it comes down to individual interpretation...

Well it's true, existence of gods cannot be proven, which is why there are so many religions to begin with. It wouldn't be much of a test of faith if we all knew the answer.

Hhhmmm have you ever considered what may be if in fact one day the existence of god could be proven (hypothetically speaking)...I know this is a gambling forum so not intended to open a theological debate here...

And I agree, even though it's gonna get there sooner or later, so let's enjoy this while we can.

To answer your question, it will never happen, because even if that scenario did come up, people would immediately question its legitimacy.

It's more likely to play out like this...

religion was created by kings, so that they can control their subjects

religion is for the not so bright

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.

I am 100% sure of whom I am and need no religion. Closest would be new age which is not listed in poll.
Nobody is separated from the whole which is ONE! You are all GOD if that is what you want to call it.

I'm a Christian but haven't always been a good one.

Everyone should be open to new knowledge. I remember strongly believing in UFO's until I heard a debate put on by the Yale debate team. The team arguing against their existence made a compelling argument that I could simply not ignore.

Is there anywhere I can find this debate online? I've always been fascinated by UFO's(as well as religion) though I remain fairly skeptical. I definitely believe in life on other planets but the likelihood of us being visited by other worldly beings seems improbable. Are there any pre 20th century writings about UFO's? You would think that if a handful of people wrote about them before Airplanes existed that it might be somewhat credible.

More christians than any other single faith so far. Feel bad for atheists. You got to stand for something or you will fall for anything. May you find the way through our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
