Big thread on slickdeals for this deal below:

    Amazon Reviews for this notebook:
    http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AO722-BZ4...pr_product_top

To spare you from reading through the currently 30 pages of comments in the above SD link, this is the lowdown.

Starting Sunday Target will lower the price of this notebook/netbook from $330 to $250 with a $50 gift card so basically $200. Most of the people in the slickdeal thread I linked to went to the store already to buy it (including me) and then are going to do a price match or return/rebuy to get the sale price on Sunday that way they don't have to worry about going to the store on Sunday and finding they are sold out. From what I've read in the SD thread, most people think you will need to do a return/rebuy on Sunday in order to get the $50 GC if you buy the notebook now instead of waiting until Sunday, but that is no big deal.

Also, the model number listed in the advertisement is wrong, the correct one if you go to the store to buy it now instead of waiting on Sunday is BZ454 not NZ454 like the advertisement list. Also, there is a 90 day return period for Target and no restocking fee if you decide to return it.

Pretty good deal for this notebook/netbook, I'm going to install XBMC and turn it into a HTPC, someone already did that in the SD thread and verified that it can playback 720P/1080P mkv's fine through XBMC.

That's a great deal and a damn good idea using for a HTPC. Might have to think about this one, thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, this is a perfect notebook to leave on 24/7 as a seedbox/usenet downloader/HTPC. Someone in that SD thread I posted already commented on how it works with XBMC:

    http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpos...&postcount=302

"The big surprise for me is how well it handles high definition video. I installed XBMC on it and it seems to have no problems whatsoever with 1080p video. At this price, this would actually make a really nice low power HTPC, just get yourself a remote and you'd be good to go."

"I'm here to tell you that HD decoding, HD streaming, and flash heavy content is far from questionable. It all runs like butter."

Then in post #305 he says,

"The biggest file I have is a 16GB 1080p encode of Fight Club, encoded with x.264 and in an mkv container. Playing over wireless, it needed to buffer for about 5-10 seconds, after which it played perfectly for the 15 or so minutes I left it playing. I don't have any full Blu-Ray rips, but I doubt they'd be able to stream over wireless with my G router. Maybe over N. I'm sure a wired connection would work great.

All I had to do after installing XBMC was turn on "use hardware decoding" in the settings."

That is a really great notebook! The specs are pretty damn good. Only drawback is the 1.0 Ghz processor, but even that is still fast.

I remember when laptops were a couple of grand and I said "One day they'll only be $500!"

Shit, $500 came and went and I didn't even notice.

If these fukers are only $250 in July how much are they gonna be during Christmas? We're going to see $100 notebooks this year.

Yeah, the screen is small, I couldn't use something that small as my main PC but who does anyways? I bought mine to use as a HTPC and it will be perfect with XBMC since it has HDMI and a video card to decode.

This would make a good travel laptop or something you only use occasionally.

I've never bought a laptop from them but I've bought almost everything else computer related through them (RAM, Video Cards, a couple of Monitors, flash drives, hard drives and much more) and never had a problem with them. Always read the customer reviews before you buy. I always find better deals at the egg when I compare with other places.

Yeah, Amazon and Newegg are great, I use them for 90% of the things I buy online.

    HTPC = Home Theater PC

XBMC is the media software that helps run the HTPC.

Google XBMC to find out more.

It's definitely a forum to keep track of, I've found awesome deals on there and also made decent money buying items that go on clearance and flipping them on eBay.
