    Vegas Vacation (Need suggestions)

Thinking of leaving right after my 21st birthday in a month to head to Vegas for a few days. Just wondering what the best hotels were to stay at value wise, distance from strip wise, etc. I'm looking for something with a casino obviously and maybe a sportsbook.

I found this deal on Expedia: Roundtrip from Nashville to Las Vegas and 3 nights at Golden Nuggest ($430 including tax and fees)

Don't worry about were you stay. You will only be sleeping there. Majnority of your time will be spent on foot hopping from casino to casino.

I would score some show tickets. Like Cirque Du Soleil, terry Fator, or see if there is a concert in town. Don't hang around the tables too long. It will drain your money. Find out about the pools that are open all day, such as Rehab @Hard Rock. Its an all day pool party, but there are other casinos that offer this.

I would grab a hotel off the strip, or stay downtown. The strip is a money trap. You can easily catch a 5 minute taxi ride, or buy an all day bus pass. Spend your money on enjoying yourself, not where you sleep.

If you want to stay somewhere that will have good eats, great nightclubs and pools, nice rooms and top shelf pussy stay at any of these places: aria, cosmopolitan, venetian/palazzo or wynn/encore. Stay at any of these places and you won't have to go anywhere else unless you choose to.

Book your flight at southwest.com. they may have a package deal too. That will be your cheapest route. I like ballys hotel, its cheap and right in the middle of the strip.

all over $200 a night from what I see. I don't mind spending 1K at all but I want to spend it at the tables, sportsbook, poker room, bar, etc

The biggest difference between these 2 is LOCATION. MGM is on the southern end of the Strip, close to all of the major large casinos. Nugget is downtown on Freemont St. It's surrounded by older "value" casinos. If you wanna play $5 table games Nugget is your best bet, if you want to see the glitz & glamour, stay at MGM and wander the Strip.

Nugget has a great pool and is the only casino I'd ever consider staying at on/near downtown.

Go get the best meal deal in town at Ellis Island, hit the Hilton Sports book, stay away from the strip,go downtown and if you have chance get out to one of the local's casinos like Red Rocks.

Enjoy your 21st Birthday Dude! Drink up!

If you like being around tourists your own age then I recommend staying on the Strip. (The Golden Nugget is off the strip in downtown.)

Why would you stay at the Nugget? Stay at "The Hotel" @ Mandalay Bay or The Four Seasons... Much better option....

I have always stayed at Bally's due to it's location. It is pretty much dead center of the strip and across the street from the bellagio. Avoid staying downtown if it's your first time, you can always catch a cab for 20 bucks downtown and experience all it has to offer one night.

The Golden Nugget is the nicest one downtown, Think that is where Opie stays.

if you dont have a car, ballys isnt a bad option. you probably want to be in a central location. ballys isnt fancy but its right in the middle and on the monorail line. i stayed there 2 years ago. no complaints except theres no "theme".

the other posters who said you wont spend much time in the hotel are probably right. look for something decent (NOT Hooters) on the strip. everything is within 15-20 mins walk anyways.
MGM is at the south side, nothing much below it.

I stayed at Planet Hollywood last may and it was really good. Prices were ok, central location and really hot chicks dancing in the casino and dealing at tables.
They also have a pretty good buffet.

I've been to Vegas 5 times and I usually stay at the Hilton. The Hilton is just off the strip, but taking the monorail will get you to the different hotels. The Hilton has the best blackjack, the best sportsbook, and the buffet is good for the price. If you don't have a car the MGM or Caesar's are probably the most central hotels to stay at.

Hilton here. On the monorail, couple small bars, luke the book there. I dont really need much else. And it helps that the rooms are comped.

what kind of price are you looking at beer wise in Vegas? Used to paying around $2.50 so I'm sure that'll be a little shocking but just wondered, like inside the bars in the Hilton and Strip

You don't stay in the hotel much in Vegas anyway , If you just need a place to crash I'd say Hooters is the best bang for the bucks , 3 min walk to MGM , New York , Excalibur

Beer is free as long as you're gambling at a table.

If you are a Rewards member and gamble much then you should be able to get free rooms at the lower to mid range hotels owned by Harrahs (Rio, Ballys, IP, Flamingo, Harrahs). I usually stay at Ballys or Harrahs because of their locations. I'm only sleeping a few hours in the room and could care less as long as it is clean when I get there. IP hotel rooms are definitely worse than the others but their casino can be awfully fun. If you aren't then join up next time at a Harrahs property. The rewards, while not quite what they used to be are, still pretty good.

You will pay for usage of internet, usage of the safe, usage of the fridge, and their are no coffeemakers in the rooms. That is the Vegas way.

There is no reason to ever buy a drink in Vegas unless you don't gamble or if you like to go clubbing with the kids.

I've never been to Vegas before. Zero clue about the whole setup but refreshing to know that if I'm gambling on the floor, I won't have to buy a shit load of beer/liquor but what about the sportsbooks? I've heard they don't comp drinks anymore

When you need a break from gambling The Stratosphere has some cool extreme rides at the top of the tower and a pretty laid back lower end casino also

I've stayed there twice. It's nothing to write home about but it's no worse than your average holiday inn type of room.
