    HDTV Fixing

Hey guys, just received a free big screen HDTV from a co-worker but it has a blue kind of tint to the picture. Perfectly fine but if I could improve it for the NBA/NHL finals it would be stellar! Let me know any recommendations you might have. Cheers

My guess is you have to replace the blue convergence bulb which is out on the "perfectly" fine TV you got for free.

Thanks guys. Blue convergence bulb hey? I'll see what comes up in that regard. At any rate his wife wanted it out and I got a better gaming tv at the least. Any other ideas?

Pretty hard to help without knowing why kind of HDTV you have. DLP, LCD, LED, Plasma? Even better would be the model number. There are some pretty good tech guys around here, but they need something to work with.

First check the color setting, adjust them and see if that helps

its probably a older rear projection...the convergence board is fried

I replaced one in a older RCA for $80....TV repair shop wanted $600

If it's a projection TV it's definitely the convergence that is burned. If only one of the three colors is burned it will cost you 150-200 bucks at a shop to fix it. If they ask for more they want to rip you off.

Thanks Pavy. Now I'm kind of weighing if it's better to just run with it as is since it's still totally usable or worry about fixing it-I've heard a bit that this problem can keep occurring. Appreciate the advice though!

Thanks Ghana. Well, he had it listed as free just to get it out of his house so I showed up with a case of beer as a goodwill gesture. Anyways, thanks all for the advice. Cheers
