Nice looking home, I miss North Carolina, hopefully you are in driving range of the beaches.

Go over that home warranty, they should list what if covered, don't assume it's covered. It has saved my ass with the A/C unit that went out.

Also have homeowner's insurance that covered the roof after a storm. Both of those would have been 3-4k out of pocket if I didn't have coverage.

Congratulations on the home. Take one day each summer to recaulk and seal any cracks or gaps in the soffit, facia, or exterior walls.

depending on the interest rate you may be better off investing in the market versus a cheap loan

Congrats man, it's a great time to buy. My suggestion is to put a little cash to the side every month for an emergency fund, if something breaks/needs repair.

Actually that's in Raleigh just off Capital Blvd. I'm only 10 minutes or so from downtown.

That's what everyone has been telling me, how much is a good amount to have on the side? Right now after our down payment I have 5000 in an emergency fund - should that be more?

We close July 6th, so sometime after that! I want to refinish the hardwood and my parents are going to buy us a grill as a housewarming, so once we have those two things and have moved in, its fair game!
