I once got it in my college plant taxonomy class. sucked real bad. Just today i walked through some tall grass that has some on it....... i hope it doesnt show up tomorrow
i got it right now, but it's all finished, just healing. i used to never get it as a kid and i practically lived in the woods. I've gotten in 3 times in the past 2 years. But now i know to wash real good with dish washing detergent as soon as you think you might get it. apparently regular soap wont get rid of the ivy oil but dish washing detergent is supposed to be able to get it off your skin. but you have to do it right away before the skin starts absorbing the oil.
Hate that crap, got it bad the year before last. Started out as a little spot and spread everywhere. Ended up on prednisone to get rid of it after nothing else worked.
Poison Ivy is one of those things that gets worse the more you get exposed to it. Those of us that had contact with it as a kid will get it worse as adults than those who were not exposed before. It really sucks, and once you start getting it you will only get worse the more you come in contact with it. My mom practically has to get into clean room gear just to go out and pull weeds.
every wereou scratch you add to the problem the oil in the plant is what makes it itch. Wash good use calomine lotion and if necessary i found that if wrap the area it is at least localized.
yes, i did read online that if you burn the leaves (trying to get rid it from your yard), the whole neighborhood will get poison ivy in their throats and lungs. that poison ivy is the work of the devil. it serves no purpose in life except to make humans miserable (i read that animals can't get it).
