    Computer security question

....just wondering what some of the things that you guys (americans in particular) do to keep your betting private and what security measures you use.

I am not a computer expert by a long shot, one thing that I do for privacy is that I use open source(wifi) on a seperate PC for my bets. I never place bets from my home IP. Also, I run my browser from a portable firefox browser on a flash drive, to keep my hard drive clean.

Like I said, I'm not a computer expert. Any advice or suggestions?

If you added a fake nose & glasses to your security setup, you should be good to go.

Or go with an Offshore VPN

Yeah, your probably right. It's just that if I do that it only makes sense to get an offshore email service as well, and both cost...I'm just not that big of a bettor, so I was looking for a cheaper alternative.

Keeping with computer questions, for those that have used Crap Cleaner, or CC I think it is called these days, what are your opinions on it?

If I went by what I have read when looking at the software it seems really good. But I wanted an opinion from others who have used the software.

    Thanks!

I've used CCleaner for a few years now. Great software, never had a problem.

Yeah I was, but ntl some good ideas out there.

Anybody out there using tor, and if so will it work with
sportsbooks? Just looking to prevent packet sniffing and keystroke reading for the more sensitive websites I visit.

Also, another thing that I rec, is to use the onscreen keyboard to log into the books. Good way to negate most keystroke readers out there since they don't read mouse movements.

I did not read this whole thing and have nothing to offer, however

It reminded me that I named my wi-fi "Security Enabled Network"

    Get it?

using the neighbors access is just a short fix as if they look for you and the neighbors come out clean, they will look for whomever is close enough to use their net..

there is NO WAY to protect yourself with a sportsbook, unless they stay quiet (which they won't if a gov't wants the info.. especially the gov't they happen to work with..)

if you don't want dns servers tracking you, etc.. use free ones out of the country.. ones that have no treaties with the US.. you should be safer.. I won't go into details as if you don't know.. stop gambling.. if you know.. you should already be doing it..

    good luck!

You dont really need to do anything. Unless, you are making massive bets. No one will care.

Yeah, I get your point with the books. That's something that we all assume (riskwise). I was really looking for some sort of point to point (between my comp and the sportsbook)encryption or tunneling. As far as the DNS goes, I am not quite as sold on it as you, but it is layering of sorts. One thing that really bothers me is that my email is not encrypted. Even though I am not naive enuff to use my real name on my email account dedicated to a sportsbook, it is a direct link to the betting account, which does have it.

As far as email goes, I don't have the knowledge to do my own encryption, and doesn't the receiver have to be able to unencrypt it? I notice that there are email encryption services out such as hushmail....don't have any experience with them though.
