Now with the Private Zone closed to posting, it's just a way to separate sports/gambling stuff from that which isn't. Before when people went apeshit on each other or whatever, they could do it PZ. But sometimes it went a bit too far and so now it's closed. Instead now we have the Saloon. You see some of the threads in there: How was your shit last night? Did you ever eat your chick's bum?, Bateman sucks, etc (I'm paraphrasing but you know what I mean). If you were an advertiser/potential advertiser/a new poster lurking the forum, and clicked on a sub-forum called Players Talk - which has a sports/gambling connotation - and see that kind of stuff in there, what would be your impression of SBR?

Sure Shari, but think of all the potential bum eating tips that this advertisor may now be missing. A lot of advertisor's out there with very little bum noshing knowledge.

Seems to me then if that is really a concern of SBR then why not go ahead a ban a couple of posters that repeatedly make this place look like a joke and bring nothing to it but fighting and childish behavior. I'm sure it would also make your job a little easier.

The one thing that's been reiterated to me since I've become a Mod is that SBR doesn't want to heavily moderate the forum like a few others do. Obviously we do when we have to but that's the whole reason why the infraction system is gradual unless you screw up big-time of course.

And it'd be hypocritical of me to say that shit stirrers should be banned as I've been one of them at times. Have a bad day gambling/something crappy happened that day in your personal life/whatever so you take it out on strangers online. But if we were all forced to just e-smile at each other and were afraid of saying something negative, I don't think many people would come back as often as they do. I know I personally wouldn't - it'd be boring and fake. Obvious trolls are dealt with as are those who continually start crap. But in reality when you look at how posters engage with each other, often it's a 2way street. Those who are complaining about trolls and the Bateman's of SBR, tend to be engaging in the same behaviour themselves throughout the forum as most people who are truly bothered simply put the trolls/Bateman's on ignore and just forget about it. So what's the solution? Start banning massive amounts of people? That wouldn't be good.

I'm not saying ban massive amounts of people, I know and you know the difference between taking and receiving shots between posters where it's just banter and small stuff. The Bateman's of SBR do bring in traffic views but quantity does not always guarantee quality. Isn't that what you are saying SBR wants to sell when a future poster or future advertiser is viewing the site. You know and I know what the solution is. An apple tree always has a few bad apples you toss the bad ones and keep the good ones.
