Moving to Vegas- looking for advice

Always wanted to try and now my schedule permits it...moving to Vegas for a few months to see how I do trying to make enough to live on doing this....here's the way I figure it...

    1. gotta make about 4 grand a month to make me happy and get the bills paid (damn student loans)...

    2. that means if i am able to pick roughly 57.5 percent of the games that would give me a 10 percent return- this would mean I'd have to put in play about 40 grand a month- or average about 1300 a day...that's a lot but doable

    3. Looking for advice from people who've done this....not necessarily where the cheap buffet is and where to stay- I'm good with that (although it would be nice to know which sportsbooks wil give me the most perks cuz I'll obviously be spending a lot of time there)- I'm more looking for betting and management advice

    4. bankroll is about 20 grand- i know that's ridiculous to put in play twice my bankroll every month- absurd, but i only have that much to "waste"- if i lose it, no big deal- i head out to cali and get a job again- i can get a job easily so can take the risk (hence called gambling)---

    Thanks for help,

Only unreasonable part to your plan is you hitting 57.5% longterm. You would have to go on quite a run to sustain this over any serious amount of time. You'd have to start hot and not have the inevitable losing streak until well into your stay. What you're trying to do can be done on 20K, but there are a lot of things that have to go right from the start. Goodluck!

    57.5% is ridiculously high.

40k in action is a slow weekday not a month.

It is absurd, you should be betting the whole thing every day.

You're relying on a 57.5 percent success rate to pay off student loans? I smell big-time disaster.

You are a HUGE underdog to succeed in this venture. Making $4K/mo on a $20K bankroll is tough. Best of luck, though.

    Yes it is.

Don't come here starting off trying to live off betting. You will fail.

Find a job and start the betting off for extra income, and work your way from there.

Wish ya luck but I'd strongly suggest already having enough to live on for those months first on top of the bankroll....that way you're not stressed over current bills due and can bet with a clear head and not chase.

20k isn't much to work with when you factor in cost of living as well. unless you are going to be like fishhead and coupon clipping for meals and living in a *** dump motel, save your money and stay home.

I moved to Vegas for a few months. With a bankroll of 20k you can start betting without even worrying about a job for a little while.

Make your units 50$ until you get a job. Bet 1-5 Units depending how confident you are on the game.... continue to read sbr and learn about sports betting.

Stay disciplined and dont drink too much out there...

Extremely long odds of making it on a 20K bankroll - but not impossible.

You'll have to have iron clad discipline and a lot of luck. Few are cut out for it. If you have a single hole in your game (alcohol or drugs, action junkie, weak character, women, weak handicapping, poor money management, poor work ethic) you are doomed.

The fact is - to do it with any chance of success - even with a more substantial bankroll - is more work than working. But if you're passionate about giving it a shot - you should.

    Wish you the best.

I'd say if you do try this out, I would definitely advise getting at the minimum a part time job to cover your living expenses, so you can just bet to build your bankroll. You should only need 6 hours a day max to cap games, so if you sleep 10 hours, you can work for 6 hours a day easily.

Best of luck. Pulling for anyone taking a shot.

Is there any way you can cut cost? 4K a month? Really? key IMO is to keep expenses extremely low due to bank roll only 20K.

Expect very little out of the sportsbooks, in the way of comps, you may get some drink coupons thrown your way if they see you enough but that's about it.

As for the student loans, you can defer since you technically don't have a "job" something to think about.

Try renting a room or couch, sitting in a book all day is a recipe for something bad to happen, think you get a few beers in you, head over to the blackjack table, what's the worst that can happen right?

Not trying to discourage you, I wish you all the luck, keep us updated for those of us that want to live through you.

You have close to zero chance of succeeding. If you want to make it gambling cut your expenses way down, learn to play poker, and just bet small on sports as a side thing. Even if you can beat the juice, and that's a very big if, your bankroll is too small to withstand the swings.

Good luck, I would suggest having weekly or daily goals to keep you on track. And don't stray from the plan you set, once you stray and try to score big thats when things go wrong.

If I had $1 for every person who had a system and moved to Vegas to "make it," I'd have seven figures right now.
