    Is Fios any good?

Bunch of mo-fos outside my house installing all the 'infrastructure' needed to lay down some lines for Fios.

Live in a community with a HOA and all that stuff.

Anyway, once they finish, going to offer bundle packages for residents starting at $78/month.

And since my Comcast bill is up to $150/month, seems like a no brainer.

    Any input?

FIOS is amazing, fiber baby! If you have the money and you download alot, then it is worth it. You can also call Comcast and tell them you are switching and they will probably knock your bill down.

got FIOS triple play last summer. Have absolutely zero complaints. They give you a free Wifi router which is the best part. It sucks though because I'm up at school for most of the year, but my parents love it.

Optimum gives you the same service for about 8 percent less overall.

Fios picture far superior to Optimum and you don't lose stations because Optimum is too cheap to pay for content

You have no idea of what you are talking about.
Fox wouldn't even go to the table with Cablevision.
Fox turned down talks with an independent arbitrator.
Fox wanted obscene amount of money from Cablevision when in 1989 Cablevision put that startup 'network' on their lineup for nothing, as in free.
Now Fox developed into a player, they seem to forgot who helped them get to those houses in the northeast.

Fios is fiberoptics, Optimum is fiberoptics, same thing, same picture, you pay more with Verizon for the same product, not to mention Optimum was using fiberoptics years before Verizon.

Verizon's CS is terrible, and their billing is deplorable

This is what you don't get with Fios

    -No News12
    -No MSNBC(in Cablevison areas only)
-No FSN HD, MSG HD, TBS HD, CNN HD, Versus/Golf HD
-MLB Xtra Innings,NHL Center Ice, NBA League Pass
    TV Equipment
-Must pay extra for HD for each box
-TV without box only gets local and PBS stations
    :Voip Phone Service
-many more features including web based voice-mail
    -World Call international calling plan
    Internet
+I honestly cannot think of one thing that is better
    about Cablevision internet.

Optimum internet is on another planet.

    Thanks for playing though

WTF? this CV stuff is only in NY, NJ and CT?

I like the positive feedback for Fios here gents. Paying a damn buck and a half a month for comcast is getting fukkin ridiculous. I got to get a time frame. Probably a few months.

    Thanks for all the insight.

I didn't activate my IP locator, I don't know where you are.

Long story short, you are going to pay for FIOS, their picture is good, their billing dept is terrible, CS adequate at best.

Yeah it's pretty good, Tivo doesn't work on it you need their DVR. If you switch to Verizon you can always go back to comcast if they offer you a deal. Then just switch every year getting the new customer discount.

Got FIOS 2 years ago, think its great, 20/5 tier with top HDTV package runs me $103 after taxes, not super cheap but worth it especially with the alternative being comcrap, internet only went out once on me when the router went toast, and it was replaced by a tech the next day

    Doesn't work like that.

Cable companies keep house history records.
If your house had Verizon in 2006, dropped them in 2007, came back to them in 2008, it's all noted.
Every time you call a cable company, most of the time, the CSR has every bit of information in front of him.

You can flip-flop once, but they will deny you if you keep jumping from say, Time-Warner to Verizon, back again, etc. etc. for 'buy back' special deals.

You can get around it like this though, if you want to switch back yet again, put the new account in your wife's name, (or g/f, or whatever) using a different cell #
