I saw a cartoon that showed a limousine driving by a playground basketball court. The tall guy playing basketball says, "I'm out here busting my butt every day and look, there goes another millionaire school teacher".

They both make most of their income based on performance and value they bring to the company or brand...athletes more physical, CEO more mental...in either case someone has placed a value on them and is willing to pay, so overpaid doesn't make sense unless you take it case by case and look at performance, if either doesn't perform up to the perceived value they will get paid less and/or lose their position...

basically, if someone is willing to pay you a certain amount, at that moment you are worth that amount(to someone). which means you are not overpaid in that moment.

Left socialist movie stars love this cause too. '

These dumb ass moves would just force companies to move... Left forgets to consider that angle.

those fuckers are overpaid. Carly fiorini ****** up on her job. Bush had where he was investing in companies. The govt gave fortune 500 companies money to hire thinking it would stimulate the economy. She used the money to buy stocks back. Laid off a shitload of people.Overpaid for a company. Fuckedd up company and then was paid 20 million to go away. Likes to tell people how she worked as a secretary. Fails to explain she was her dad's secretary at the university of texas when he taught law. He went to become head of the law dept at duke. Very smart man but the genes skipped a generation.

    no they are not overpaid
this is supply and demand, basketball players are in high demand, and so earn a lot, its called capitalism. for a more equal distribution of income we would be delving into communism, and as far as I know for americans, to be a commie is the most heinous of crimes

I'm actually more interested in why they never mention that we are importing countless millions of the world's most impoverished citizens into our country.

It's tough to solve income inequality in America when so many people who are flat penetrating broke just stroll into our country every day by the truckload.

The question should be "if the government can set a minimum wage, then why can they not set a maximum wage?"

    Or

"If the government can set the price of milk why can't they set the price of a sports ticket?"

You can't expect government to solve income inequality if the solution is merely one sided.

What about the CEO's that get a golden parachute to leave, like the head of Yahoo? She left them in worse shape.

well for anyone with leftist views, it is within their ideology so its not weird, but there are many from the right that have an issue with athlete wages which is weird

also the world is complex and not black and white. wanting a fair distribution of income is not necessarily communism, quite the opposite. wanting everyone to earn what they are truly worth sounds more like capitalism to me

Free markets should be left alone.

There is no way I'd pay Harden or Paul 1/5 of a billion dollars for 5 years or clooney $25 million for a 30 day movie shoot but if somebody wants to they should be able to.

I heard Bernie Sanders say the CEO should not make more than 20x the salary of the janitor. LOL. And the elites who flew in on their $40 million jets applauded. The Venezuela blueprint.

I agree about the free markets. Sanders is entitled to his opinion, but the government has zero right whatsoever forcing such a policy on a business.

You get paid in comparison for your talents. Anyone can mop a floor. Not every one can lead a multi million dollar business. Not everyone is Tom Brady or Lebron either. Nobody is offering Roscoe Jones who plays pickup basketball on the corner of Oak and Main a million for his talents because he's a dime a dozen.

Why dont they complain? Because sports makes more minority millionaires than any other industry in America. It's a great thing.

If someone pays you a certain amount, at that moment you are worth that amount...now investments appreciate and/or depreciate so the end result might leave some thinking that they overpaid...on the flip side it may turn out that they were underpaid...either way when the contract is signed the value one has placed on someone is black and white...

Just lazy and/or talentless people that complain about these things

Some have to work harder than others but everyone can make it here

I do pretty well for myself but a few better choices and more hard work over the years and I could have been in a better spot...we all could if we're being honest. Tomorrow is a new day as well.

No one wants to hear that though
