    CliffsNotes:

3 Accounts at AP were noticed by high-stakes players to have outrageous stats over a short period of time. In addition to winning at an almost impossible rate (about 300BB/100 hands) the players in question never called a river bet, only raised or folded.

Most damning, the accounts in question never put money in on the river with a losing hand. Most reasonable people agree that this is pretty much impossible to do over any significant number of hands without knowing the opponent's hole cards.

After all of this came to light, one of the accounts played several sessions of the worst poker over seen at those stakes and dumped a bunch of money making calls such as 4-high no pair on the river (hand history posted above).

It's a really crazy story and you can read many hundreds of posts on the subject at any poker forum right now.

People will inevitably find ways to cheat the sites. It's incredibly rare that you hear of it really happening, because the people who have exploited the system are not going to tell anyone about it. Most of the cheat software programs are really just malware. I understand there are security teams and safety methods in place, but there are always hackers who find ways into things.

Heres the report that Mike from Pokerroomreview reported on this subject:

Absolute Poker Cheating Controversy 09/18/2007 08:41 AM

Allegations have been flying fast and furious on poker forums crying foul against AbsolutePoker.com for allowing accounts with the usernames DOUBLEDRAG, POTRIPPER, and GRAYCAT to exploit a weakness in their online poker software. There has been a lot of talk about the possible existence of a so-called ‘superaccount’ that allows the accounts in question to view hole cards. What evidently substantiates the claim that something is amiss is a river aggression factor of close to infinity. The pattern repeats itself over and over again where the player only folds or raises and never goes to showdown, because allegedly he knows what hole cards his opponents have, resulting in a phenomenal Win%. Then, in a bizarre twist, one of the suspected accounts went on what was termed a blatantly obvious chip-dumping spree, dropping tens of thousands of dollars. Absolute Poker finally reacted to the outcry by freezing the suspected accounts pending an investigation.

This is a very serious issue that Absolute needs to address due to the substantial evidence that has already been brought to light. PokerRoomReview is holding off on downgrading this site until their investigation is complete and AP has officially responded to these allegations.
