    Poker Pet Peeves

I used to get really pissed at peoples play at the poker table. Calls that made no sense or risk that seemed incredibly silly but as time has gone on I have adopted a more relaxed manner at the tables. I still scratch my head at times at some play out there but once I finally decided that it is their chips and they should play them anyway they choose. When the hands are holding up I make good profit or advance further because of their bad play and when good hands aren't holding I can simply move to a different table or avoid them all together.

That said though there are still certain pet peeves I have with people. I am sure some of you have some as well. So here is your chance to list them and compare to what others are thinking.

1: In tournament play there are multiple hands against an all in and there is either no or minimal side pot. There always seems to be the one jerk who just has to bet out the other players with absolutely nothing. He claims he just wants to isolate the all in player but he doesn't understand or doesn't care that early on or at least before anyones in the cash it is a game of elimination and by keeping multiple hands against an all in the chances to eliminate the all in player are substantially higher.

2: The guy who apologizes for the suckout or simply busting a player. I mean come on, you aren't sorry. If you were truly sincere you wouldn't have put your money/chips in play in the first place. You wanted to win the hand and you won so don't be insincere and apologize. Even if it was a bad play on your part you still aren't sorry you won so don't apologize.

agree with both completely. my main pet peeve at the table has to deal with hygiene. i cant stand when people cough into their hands and not their elbows. im not a hygiene freak by any means but for some reason i just think people should have a little more respect for the other players. its 10 people crammed together at a table for god knows how long and everybodys eventually going to be touching each others cards and chips.

    disgusting.

People who have the logic of when to check down in an all in situation totally backwards.

    People I dislike

1)Table professors that berate bad play. I don't mean total idiots who make nonsensical comments about poker strategy but the players with a basic/intermediate grasp of TAG strategy that seem to think the table is their lectern to enlighten the fish. How f*@!ing stupid are you christ.

    2) "Internet" pros. I'm not talking about your average online professional or punter that might sideline in live games but the type of person whose skin is begging for a drink of sunlight. The person straight out of revenge of the nerds who hasn't felt the touch or glance of a woman. The type of life moron that constantly insinuates that their style of play is superior to live players (whether the live player plays online or not). This player usually talks about whether something was +EV, Equity, anything sklansky, balancing ranges and obnoxiously chatters to like minded frailtards about some random internet 100 NL grinder they spoke to the night before on AIM. "Hey dude i talked to silken1333 last night! he just made SNE on stars but was hospitalized for rickets. lol standard post on NVG!" No strategy at the table or I'll break you in half twiggy.

    Things I like:

1)Random superstitious beliefs. Most of them in my experience come from the Asian players but they can be hilarious especially if you play along with their flawed logic. Hell yeah we need a deck change up in this mother****er!
    2) Sheer variety of players. So many interesting weirdos out there.

Definately this. Let people play how they want. Obviously some people aren't good and lecturing them is either going to cause them to play differently (better) or quit the game. In both cases you will probably make less money.

A few that have been mentioned have been good. I don't really care how people play poker or what decisions people make in hands because their bad play makes me money. It's the random stuff that people do or say that I find frustrating.

    1. Bad beat guy:
I get it. You're unlucky and have been running bad for a week because donks call your raises with crap blah blah blah. You probably play like 20 hands an hour and have seen like 600 hands total during your huge 4 buyin downswing. I mean nobody has ever ran that bad over such a large sample size. LOL. I don't care.

    2. Talk under your breath guy:
This guy is often related to bad beat guy. He often takes a bad beat and is frustrated so he talks under his breath or to the guy next to him about how bad someone played their hand. Nevermind the fact that this person usually cannot betsize and has no idea that he might have actually played the hand worse then the guy who he is talking junk about.

    3. I'm a superstar guy:
He often likes to announce that he is only playing such a small game (regardless of stakes) to kill some time and that he usually plays "a lot higher". You will often see this guy wearing sunglasses but we all know that the sun never sets on the cool so you can't really blame him. If you see this gentleman you should definately thank him and shake his hand for gracing you with his presence.

I can't stand people who call out poor play. UNless you have some larger scheme to tear down a plyers confidence, or get in someone's head to take them out of their game, berating uneducated players after they win a pot is only going to make them better in the long run because they are going to start analyzing their play more.

Poor decision are great, even if you loose. The day when no one is making stupid plays at the table will be terrible.

i dont get mad anymore when people make bad calls against u take for example tuesday nite at my local casino live tourny im sitting on 12,500 chips after the first session and get into a hand with my table chip leader who 3 bets a pot at me blinds 100/200 i raise from mid. position to 600 hes small blind and bumps it to 1700 i reraise all in he takes good 2-3 min. pondering call so i love my chances if he taking that long im thinking he has mid pair maybe 1010 at best he finally calls with A Q offsuit im stunned someone would call off 3/4 their stack with this hand of course he flops his ace and that is why i write about this but moral of the story is i absolutly want peopl;e to call when i have the best hand preflop what happen s after that is out of your hands more often your going to win 7 out of 10 pots like that i'll take that is why you cant get mad get it all in pre flop with the best hand and your playing correctly

There are times when extending the bubble can be a good thing but a double or nothing sng obviously isn't one of those times.

Agreed. Table coaching is stupid. It often ruins action and causes bad players to get up from the table. Absolutely terrible strategy.

i will tell u what.next time when they say they are sorry for sucking out ,tell them if your really sorry ,give me the money and i bet they wont say that again, and as far as the first one.anyone who knows the rules ,knows if u can knock someone out ,the more players playing the hand ,the better chance he will lose,so when that happens ,u know who the newbies are

We do not allow sun glasses or listening to music in a monthly game. It was mostly young punks that only cause trouble anyway. One kid said he would tell the parish sheriff we were playing poker in the back room at the hall one time and he crapped his pants when one of the local cops from town stood up and flashed his badge.

God, where do I start? These have all happened in the past two weeks by the way.

    1. Sunglasses. Why? I usually play at the live $1/$2, $2/$5 games in town and none of the players are good enough to warrant a solid reason for wearing sunglasses other then they wish they were on TV.

    2. When someone bluffs a big pot gets called and they go through 3-4 minutes of "what do you got?" "I called you" "I got nothing man what do you got?" "I want to see your cards first" this will go on until the dealer takes control of the game and decides the bluffer has to show or muck.

    3. When guys sitting across from me say "I know I am going to win atleast $2,000 this weekend no matter what. If I run good I'll win $5,000. That is just how it goes." What?????????????????????????

    4. When people tell me bad beat stories. I have played tons of hands and have seen it all. I don't listen to your bad beat stories and don't care.

    5. When poker nerds talk strategy at the table or ask me why I called there $15 bet with 8s7s. Then ask me how I can call there AQ on the flop with a J-7-4 board.

    6. Slow rolling.

    7. When guys don't know how to shuffle chips yet attempt to do it all night long and end up just keep knocking their stack over.

    8. When I am in a hand and people watching the game want to look at my hand while I am still in.

    9. When people turn over their cards during a hand.

    10. When people talk about the hand while people are still in it.

    11. When the guy next to me cries to me about how he folded 8-3 because the flop came 3-3-J.

    12. When I get bad beated and the guy tries to explain his logic to me. Just shut up. We all know what happened. You are a donkey and got lucky, end of story.

My friend does that all the time! We usually don't play very serious games, so most of the time I don't mind, but sometimes he goes around and asks to see everyone's hands (he's not helping anybody cheat, just friends with all of us.). I just want to say if you want to see my hand, you can pay to get in the game, and I'll show you while I take your money.

I don't remember seeing a lot of Bash-goers wearing sunglasses at the SBR Poker Tourney last August in Vegas, though it would've been perfectly understandable after the liquor that flowed on Friday night.

From where I sit, if you're worrying about what someone else is wearing then you've already lost focus on your own hand. It might be pretentious of some to emulate some hotshot they saw on TV, but what does it really matter? Beat their socks off and maybe they'll start wearing the same thing you are.

You should be be happy to see this guy at your table! He's either a complete fish or someone from a higher limit ****ing with the 1/2 table while their waiting for a higher game to start. Search for stories about "crazy mike" on 2+2.

My #1 pet peeve is people who berate the fishes. Make them comfortable at the table, talk them up a little, compliment their god awful plays, buy them a drink. Make god damn sure that they're not going to leave that seat!

My #2 pet peeve is shitty regs in live games who think they're top shit and take 5 mins to make a decision because they're busy trying to verbally guess what everyone's hand is.

And #3 is the old farts and asians that are always trying to angle shoot people. I don't give a shit what the rule book says, that shit is bush league!

My #1 favorite thing is stacking any of the above 3 idiots
