H2H: Polk is running over DNegs

Approaching +$1Mill net, as we speak.

I've watched some of it. Looks like Polk run-good is at least a little true. Of course, DNegs will say that is THE factor.

DNegs can't possibly think he's really on Polk's level, can he? I realize there are secondary reasons why DNegs may want to market himself on this stage.

Polk just lost a HUGE pot. DNeg laid low w/ 8T on J97 board. Polk bluffed off $68k w/ 82.

    Insane bet. $160k pot.

Polk's logic is surely that IF he has 8x or Tx...a 4xPot overbet has to clear out everything but only a few hands. 8T and MAYBE 2pair+.

Donk, I think the best link is Joe Ingram on Youtube.

He has USUALLY had 21-year old phenom Landon Tice on air w/ him. Tice is a wiz on knowing spots/bluffs etc.

Polk right now is the best on the business.
I ran into him a few years ago in LV.
He gave me a couple minutes of his time.
    I appreciated that.
Very nice guy, funny as shit too.
I have nothing but good things to say about him.
OK, he can be a little full of himself sometimes but aren’t we all at times?

From post 8, the key hand is at 1:23:50. Polk was approaching +$1Mill net b4 that hand.

Being full of himself is what got him this free million + from Dnegs.

Polk overbet the pot to the tune of 3.5x. Imagine gifting a $160k pot. Negreanu's eyes must have popped out of his head when he saw the shove. BTW, Polk tilted and bluffed off another big $120k pot just after this. 1:27:00, on right.

Another hand that got a lot of attention. Ingram hated Polk going crazy w/ K3(d):

I'd argue that Polk's flop action was a GREAT bet! He just ran into a dynamic hand where DNeg doesn't have many calling hands.

I counted up DNeg's calling combos as:
    *Overpairs (99/88): 12
    *Sets (77/66/44): 9
    *76s: 2
    *A7 (suited OR unsuited?):12
    *56s:3

...That's 38 combos. I guess u could add in some combo draws like 98s or HeartsWITHOvers.

Big thing is that Polk's bet folds out a TON of Ace-hi w/ no redraw. And the board doesn't have a wheel draw.

Polk has to figure he has > 30% equity with his King, the 5, and running Diamonds. I think this was a great overbet, he just ran into it. And I'd question whether DNegs should be hanging around Pre-flop w/ 56s.

Nice anaylysis. It would be remiss to not mention (to those not aware), that Polk literally quit poker and playing all together. I think he was fed up with DNGs running his mouth and came back at a huge risk (the bet itself plus all profits )

I'm OG. I remember WCGrinder on justin.tv 24 playing 0.25/.50 cent tables and sitngoes with his pee jugg.

    Dude came up nice.

They settled up Round 1 and re-set the scores to even for Round 2.

Heard Ingram say that Polk was a -370 fav in Round 2. I wonder if people think that price is accurate. I think that's for something like 12,500 hands.

Do u think that price is fair? Too hi? Given random-ness, it's possible that price is too hi.

ive watched more of this match than i care to admit

But daniels videos of all his bad beats each session is just embarrassing

hes nowhere near aggressive enough and basically has to "luck" call or fold on the river

sure he catches polk sometimes, but clearly not enough

Dnegs now on a heater. Major props to DNegs. His strategy has improved significantly.

So much so that some are wondering whether it's actually DNegs at the controls. He's figured some things out about Polk.

He was down a bout 600k last time I watched. With multiple hands going and multiple people talking it's sort a shitty way to watch. If they were on a delay with cards it would be better, but obviously the players don't want that.

If you watch all his interviews for this challenge, DNegs whines about luck even more than anyone on SBR, it's pretty off-putting

Negraneu doesn't seem to understand that being one of the best live tournament players of all time doesn't mean that you're great at ONLINE HUNL. There are THOUSANDS of players who are better than DNegs in HUNL online. He's like a dinosaur in today's poker, these new young players are only getting better and better and online no limit hold em is basically "solved".

Juv, your comments are very good. Leads to a few notes:

    1) What sort of coaching is Daniel getting? If so, is it enuf to improve in a few days? He might just be running better in 2nd half.

    2) Ingram said the betting odds at halfway were something like +300 on DNegs for the next 12,500 hands. So, I guess that made Polk maybe -330 for 2nd half. And Ingram bet on Polk. I just wonder if those are the right odds, even allowing for a Polk skill edge.

    3) Re: your comment of solved, yes, if u listen to Ingram's sidekick Landon, he has it figured out to the n-th degree. He has all the combos in his head and plays it out along the tree.

    OK, this is getting crazy:

*Polk creased +$1.00Mill net after last nite.
...If u listened to the post-game, Polk was just goofing on DNegs. It sounded like a post-mortem burial.

*TODAY...DNegs has cut the deficit in half!
...DNegs up something like +$500k TODAY! Surely the biggest net day of challenge. DNegs just stacked Polk, 8888 vs top 2pr.

Looks like the total ended up being -385k for Doug at the end. He's still ahead more than 600k for the challenge

Hell of a session though. I'd love to see Daniel make a match of it, it's no fun if Doug can just coast to the end

Yeah whether Polk is "better" than Danielle or not, he sure as hell has gotten a lot more luck than Dan in this match.

And there is no damn way that one pro is going to beat another pro if one of them gets a ton more luck than the other!

    Joe, that's the hot debate:

*POLK says that Danny is the one that got lucky, especially during the 5-match win streak.
*DANNY says that Polk is the one who got lucky, particularly during the 1st half when Danny couldn't catch a break.

poker player mentality from top to bottom.... we all remember how horrible the suckouts are that beat us, or, like daniel's kk v polk's qq running out a wheel to chop (saved polk another 60-70K hickey if i recall right.... but, when we hit the longshots, that's just part of our game and was supposed to happen....

so, naturally, both think the other has run better........ daniel offered to bet polk 2M to have any reasonable analysis run on the hand to show he ran worse, polk declined..... tells me all I need to know.
