    Day 9

I think I forgot to post for a day? Anyway, things have been going really well. Although I haven't been doing any part of my pregame routine, I have been playing very solid poker. I'm leaving Ireland to go to the U.S. for a few weeks, so I'll still make sure to play while over there. I've pretty much started marking some regs as fish since I'm starting to understand the weaknesses in their gameplay, but I think I am not giving the player pool enough credit in 3bet pots and I'm getting owned by their really strong hands. I guess people are just very nitty in 3bet pots. If I can make 15 buyins at 50nl by the end of the month I'd be very happy and ready to move up to 100nl. GLGL!

    Day 10

Man what another good day! Made a few buyins at 50NL and even shotted some soft 100NL games. Made over 1.5 buyins at 100NL too. Right now BR over $1k so still playing 50NL, but really looking forward to those 100nl games! I've got a 8 hour flight over to the U.S. so I downloaded a bunch of poker videos to study on the way. Honestly, going back to my hometown could mean me either 1) doing almost no study and just having some fun or 2) being bored and studying a bunch. Will be fun to find out!

    Day 15

Took a break for a few days. I'm currently back in the U.S. now so was pretty jet lagged and hungout with family. I wasn't feeling 100% poker wise to open tables so I just didn't play. Will start studying intensely now and playing again. Still looking for 100NL in the next few weeks!

Having a side source of income smoothes out the downswings and makes it easier to take a break especially if you can get some passive income.

For example, life "ran bad" for me and I just had to take a month off from poker to take care of very serious non-financial matters. If this had happened to me when I was only playing poker for a living I would have had to deal with the additional stress of not having any income for a month. I still play professionally, but now that I have some sources of side income, I could take care of things without having to sweat a complete loss of income for a month.

Having secondary sources of income is something I wish I had caught on to earlier in my poker career. And shit, even Knish had the truck
    I’ve always liked your posts.

Poker is a young mans game. That doesn’t mean you can’t play when you get older, but you have to adapt. If you get a serious girl, family, or a good job, its going to be a lifestyle that’s tough to keep around. Older you get, the more going broke or a bad run will ruin you. You need more stability. If you lose your roll when you’re 24 years old, big deal, you have the rest of your life to get it back.

Foolish Jabber. Simply learn to adjust to the rig.

I like this post. It's really true. Look at the tournament final-tables, heavily slanted to <30 yrs old.

If you have other responsibilities...that means you have other considerations. Mentally, becomes a much tougher hurdle.

Baller, oneUnder is a wise man. Listen to his words.

If you think poker is your calling, give it some thought. Don't want to live life w/ a lot of could-have's and should-have's.

I’m considering coming out June 1-6th for the WSOP kickoff event if others are going. Mainly to play in a small event and have some fun. Will depend who can all make it out there. If attendance is low, I may pass.

I haven’t played live poker for 4 months because work has been so busy. If I start playing and I feel good about my game, I may come out at the end of June if the first trip falls through.
