    sbr poker trash talk

Never claimed to be any kind of poker player but I've gotten very lucky recently with 5 tourney wins in the past 2 weeks (4 dailys and the high rollers). I usually lose most of my points trying to roll them over but recently been encountering a lot of hate in the chat at the cash tables. People calling me names and telling me I suck at poker etc, but I'm wondering what's the point? If I'm as bad as they say (probably am close to it) why not be nice and keep encouraging me to make stupid calls etc? Doesn't make sense. If anything it drives people away when we want to get more people playing. Would like to see less negativity and more people picking winners

Congrats on the success. Forum is filled with degens and losers who are broke/divorced and unhappy. It's a gambling forum after all. Don't let anyone rain on your parade. Wish there were more good people around who were joyful and had positive vibes. No need for anyone to be toxic.

Some people take the poker games and freerolls way too seriously. Most tournaments are all in fests with their structures anyways.

Just seems to be a thing with poker. Negativity.

And agree, it's kind of ironic someone acting like they know poker much better than you who doesn't know enough to not "tap the glass".

Yes, BigO is exactly the type Optional is alluding to. Always playing table captain, advising/insulting people on their play and proclaiming how great he himself is. I don't really know how good BigO is, only he does, but I have generally found that people who whine/table coach others a ton tend not to be very good players - their insecurity about their own skill level is what drives them to do that. Those who are actually good know that themselves - they don't feel the need to proclaim it to the rest of the world to try to make themselves feel big. People who "tap the glass" as Optional said are really absurd imo. If someone is playing badly, complaining about it so that they either start playing better or just leave cause you are making them uncomfortable - well that's probably one of the dumbest things a poker player can do.

But BigO's whining also gets to be rather tiresome. Played with him this past weekend a couple days in Omaha, and he was running insanely lucky overall - must have flopped top set vs middle set like four or five times amongst other things. Obviously never said a peep while that was going on. But the moment he got coolered himself/got sucked out on a few times, immediately started complaining like no tomorrow. Just like the first type of person, I really can not stand people who do that (something I have called others out for as well here). Unfortunately, it's all too common with poker players. When they win via getting a cooler in their favor or a lucky outdraw, it's always business as usual while whenever something like that goes against them, they think it's the greatest travesty in the world.

I guess it personally hits home with me even more than most. I'm a relatively tight player so as a result I tend to get my $ in good way more often than I get it in bad (not to say that's the best way to play - players like sinmiedo + Triple who are very aggressive get their $ in bad very often but pick up lots of dead pots with aggression too - different players can make different styles work). But as someone who tends to get their $ in good, I never complain when I get sucked out on. But it's all too common in SBR Poker when in those uncommon times when I'd get my $ in bad and get lucky, my opponent would immediately start complaining up a storm (people who obviously never say a word when the reverse happens for them). Everyone gets lucky and unlucky sometimes - get over it, switch to another game if you can't take the swings.

That said, Triple is correct, someone who behaves that way should obviously not be put on the same level as an outright thief. Just given SBR is trying to create a better poker environment here, what we don't want is people scaring off new players either via playing table captain and/or insulting/complaining when they happen to put a bad beat on you.

arun i dont think rudy was comparing bigo and chipup because of being theives, had to do with name calling

fwiw, i havent played too much poker here. but from the poker ive played, one of the few things ive taken away is bigo does indeed run his mouth, call people names, and wasnt much fun to play with

There seems to be an awful lot of triggered no poker playing pussy libtarded snowflakes posting in this thread.

You guys need to find your safe places. Let me give you a clue, that safe place isn't sitting at a table with me.

I miss the real poker players that are not around anymore. (Tat, Bite, Miller, and a handful of others that weren't whiny little bitches). These guys could take it and give it right back and they wouldn't hit and run or sit short stacked like these little bitches playing in here now.

If I thought there was a chance anyone on here took you seriously, I'd start one of our old 'conversations' (where you get proven wrong a dozen times but can't/won't admit it)...but since that's obviously not the case, you'll just have to do your moron routine solo. Thanks for linking that though, always nice to remember the times when I can bring a stiff like you even a fraction of the justice they deserve.

Trash talk doesn't particularly bother me in poker (RL or otherwise)...most everyone needs to vent sometimes, myself included. And as you say, the ones who do so excessively are usually just exposing a weakness to be exploited, or unawareness of the game. I appreciate whining for those reasons; when someone complains about the "bad play" of a combo draw "sucking out" on their overpair for example, it's great to know that they're unaware of really basic aspects of the game and call down light while thinking they're strong.

We agree that excessive trash talk is definitely not a good look for new players...no offenders come to mind, but I wouldn't expect to notice either. It's hard enough for me to even put in the time for a full daily between life getting busy and resuming playing cash

Yup, about an hour in a half away from me. Closest, decent, poker room for people in Orlando. I use to play in Hollywood a lot when I lived in S. FL, but like the drive to Tampa much better.
