People who seem very trustworthy, well you loan to them and they lose it all doing whatever (casino, bet, who knows), and then as honorable as their intentions might have been, it's far easier for them to disappear from the site and either create a ghost account or just not come back at all. Once again very bad risk/reward ratio, just like people who try to disappear/avoid you irl when faced with same thing.
Especially when you say you have to like the people you stake - too many times when you stake/loan someone you like, a friend, the friendship winds up ruined over it. Money ruins friendships all too often. And once people know you are generous they are unfortunately more apt to try to take advantage of your generosity if it suits them. So again, I personally like the policy of just saying "no I don't loan or stake anyone - personal rule" By doing it universally, they have no basis to be offended, and you don't get stuck in these awkward situations...
Just my opinion though! Having been involved/seen so many of these situations over the years though, certainly seems like a much safer policy than most others for sure!
