On the button with J/9 of spades....limps around to me and I call the $2 (3 players).

Flop comes 8-10-Q rainbow. I flop the straight.

BB checks, UTG checks, I make it $40 to go. BB calls, UTG folds.

Turn is a blank...cant remember but total blank. BB checks, I bet $60. BB calls.

River is a 10....BB checks, I flip over my j/9 for the straight and he turns over 10/8 off for the boat on the river.

Im pissed but no big deal, still got $200+ behind and its early.....

    Not even 30mins later...............

I get k/q of diamonds in the cutoff.....

UTG raises to $12, folds around and I call the $12.

    Flop: KQ7

UTG checks, I bet $50....UTG tanks for a few and calls......

Turn is a 6 and utg checks it over....I say same bet and toss out $50 and he moves in. He had my ~$220 easily covered and I snap call.

He turns over pocket 7's for a set and the board runs out dry for me.

Less than 2hrs and I got stacked....had plenty of bullets with me but decided to just call it a day and hit the bar.

Will update my poker ledger when I get home

I know how donkish these games end to be, but is it really a good idea to bet $40 into a $7 pot with a made hand, or $50 into a $25ish pot? Absent a very specific read on one of the guys in the hand, that seems likely to only steal a smallish pot or get called by a range that's likely to have you beat. The turn bet of $50 into $125ish is a little on the weak side too, especially if you're betting twice pot on flop; maybe it makes him go over the top with a weaker hand, but it seems like almost all weak hands that might 3bet got out on the flop. Just my 2 cents, and I certainly don't play strictly rationally these days anyways...was there other context though?

Was thinking the same thing Trip. I've played there and witnessed 1st hand the level of play at many of the 1/2 tables but the flop bets you mentioned seemed a bit off. Sweeper can you give us some insight on your thought process there? Always fun to pick the brain of guys who play live

Thanks Trip/USC for the replys...that is the main reason I started this thread, to get feed back from other players. Appreciate it and keep'em coming.

I agree a $40 post flop bet into a $7 pot seems like overkill but this table in particular it was a standard line. I had been at the table for less than an hour but the 20-25 or so orbits I saw the average post flop bet was anywhere from $30-$40. Half the table was sitting fairly deep ($600+) and most were young guys.

Looking back at the J/9 hand it probably wouldnt have been a bad idea for me to open w/ J/9 suited on the btn into a limped pot. Most likely would have saved me $$$.

With the $50 turn bet on the K/Q hand I honestly expected him to just fold. Im holding blockers against AK/AQ so i put him on a draw. Maybe 10/J or AJ. Once the blank 6 hit the turn I figured he'd give up. Once I flopped top 2 I was jamming regardless after the j/9 debacle

Prob gonna shoot down to AC thursday or friday....if I do i'll post some in here

I have not driven to AC in over a decade....Im in Cherry Hill and there's a train a half mile from my house. Very convenient for me. There's a bar called the Chelsea Pub right across the street from the Trop. Free parking, just go inside the bar and give them your plate #

Bingo...Casino shuttles are right outside the terminal and are free of charge. Run concurrent with the train schedule so zero wait time. On a nice day i'll walk from the station to the boardwalk side casinos. Outlet store right in between
