RECAP: POKER STORIES FROM THE BASH.... Big Hands, bad beats, ETC.

After Jakepeavy asked me if I'd shared a particular hand with anyone on the forum that occurred in the post-superbowl cash game at the Bash (I hadn't), I decided the sting of the hand had subsided enough to blurt it out, so I did, in another thread.....

Since it's buried on page 2-3 of some bash-related thread in Player's Talk -- and thus most of the poker community would never get to see it, analyze it, or commiserate in my sorrow over it -- I decided to start this thread. Not only for the following reproduction of that hand, but for all SBR'ers to share their best/favorite/most memorable hands while playing poker at the bash, either the sbr trny or their cash game experiences......

Here's "The Hand"..... (not quite as glorious as Dwight Clarke's "The Catch," but you get the point)......

After the superbowl, a bunch of sbr poker sharps hit the poker room for a little $2-5 action......

Cards are dealt, I'm in late position, and after three people come into a hand for $25-30 or so, I announce "
this time I'm going to play them right", and raise to $200.... (this statement being an intentional, and not so thinly veiled referrence to laying down jacks a few hands earlier after being re raised by Big Orange holding 10 10 and seeing ttaddy call that reraise-shove by big orange with a call/reraise all in of his own with KK -- I'll let ttaddy tell the rest of that hand's story when he's ready).... (and, as I was the only remaining player in the hand when the action came back around to me after raising and being shoved upon twice, I made the jokin' reference to big orange and ttaddy that they could "shove these fukkers up their asses" and sailed the jacks for both players and the rest of the table to see).....

I felt sending the signal of holding jj again, and generally being on tilt after laying down JJ after raising it to $100, would sucker ak-aten or kk or qq into the hand.... (in a bit of foreshadowing, the sucker I suckered in is one of the luckiest suckers I've ever seen playing SBR Poker).....

So, I'm thrilled when, after big orange lays down his hand, Triple D -- who will probably admit he bought my story of holding lowly jacks again (or perhaps even something lesser but reppin' jacks as a bluff) -- shoves over the top of me with qq, and the other hands fold..... I call for my remaining stack (started the hand with $500-525 if i recall corretly)

figure it's an easy double up of my $500-525 and an extra $80-90 on the folded hands.....

we roll over the Donk's AA vs. TDB's QQ........

    FLOP: blank blank blank

    TURN: blank

    RIVER: MOTHER FUKKIN' QUEEN........

    GOOD NIGHT NOW!!!!!

    AD

Ps... had to explain to Jose and Sandos why I no-showed at the craps table after having told Jose i'd be joining them in about an hour, after I played another 30-45 mins of cash game, provided that I "didn't run into any trouble and ship it"..... never played craps that night.....

100% true...I don't think I put you on JJ, but certainly wasn't think AA either. Your stack was a full one and some change I'm pretty sure, sick beat but just more proof that we carry the rig with us wherever we go!

To donk's credit, he took the rig like a pro and didn't cove over the table at me, which I'm thankful for...I'd probably be more than a 4-1 dog to lose that one

stack was gettin there, as I'd bought in for $400 and felted Opti for $200 or so when he reraised me all in with JJ and I held QQ.... that, and a few other raised hands, had me up over $650 just prior to my folding $105 in a pot with those jacks....

Triple d shared a funny story the other day. Some sucker overplayed AA and trip payed the dealer 20 American dollars to roll a Q on the river. Never heard which sucker he got but we'll probably figure it out eventually

i know you're lying out your ass....

Triple D would never say raising to $200 in a four handed pot opened to $25 is over-playing aces..... (can't recall if there were 2 or 3 callers to the original $25 raise, but the pot at the time i re-raised to $200 was already sitting at $82- 107.....

next Bash , i will take 2 new decks and the poker case chips so we can play .50 / 1 plo
1/2 NLH in some of the rooms, or balconies.
Except the one in las vegas, the others one was hard to play some decent cash games among SBR poker players.
Hard Rock drop the ball there by only having s 5 NLH with hassle'rs and pros, at the tables.
In my case, I did not care a bit, in fact, I wanted to play against those and took some money, unfortunate for me that I had the same bad run that AutoDonk ( the other hero).

I didn't really have any bad beats in poker thankfully. The only interesting hand that I was involved in was the AA vs KK hand against downsouth....other than that, I was card dead the majority of the time.

I did lose on the Falcons which was pretty brutal..honestly, I wouldn't trade it. It was worth it given the awesome venue and people I was with and to watch the dichotomy of emotions after the game ended...elation and heartbreak. That game will go down as one of the best ever and it was one of the greatest comebacks and epic chokes in NFL history.

Bro, I am a casino black jack whore. I built it up to 13k in a 2 week time frame, lost it in a day. I'm lucky I loaned out 3500 of it or it would've been loss too.

Sin....I try and look at the positive side to not winning that hand. If I win that hand, I end up giving my wife a good portion of that money to cover her losses for the weekend. Now she feels like a winner and begs to go to the casino at the end of Feb. We go and she losses (and me too) much more money than I would have won in that hand. So in other words, folding my quads ends up saving me money in the long run.

What was the rake on the 2/5 table? Borgata Nj is $5/half hour but also have $2/hr comp rate so tech a $4/half hr rake........

HR Punta canta website said rake was $6 but didnt specify hourly or by the half hour and I think I remember Peavy saying it was $10...

    Thanks

Wow the Borg only charges 8 bucks an hour? What a dream. Last night I played 3-5 at $4+1 PER HAND! We don't get time charge games out here until your playing above 5-10

10% of pot, capped at $10, plus 1% of pot for their high hand jackpot. Pretty ridiculous for the poor service, but it was better than nothing I guess. Private game definitely the way to go next time

I m glad that I helped the Bank Roll in the long run.
Honestly, I was about to loose all the 650 that I had behind, It was no way out in that hand , unless you were merciful to me and just call.
I m planning along with beerdog to make a Las Vegas casino Run sometime this year, with our wives, let's keep in touch and put together a good crew, and had a mini SBR bash just to play poker.
We must do this once a year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No kidding...cracks me up that there were local 'pros' willing to pay this, although watching their play it's not surprising.

Solution: have the wifey deal the private game! She gets to run a table for a guaranteed profit, and I guarantee she'll be 10 times more entertaining than the poker room dealers and won't have any problems keeping people in line too!
