lets change the next championship poker match format

lot of players dont like 100 people being in it with the same stack

no real reward for being 1st or 100th, just a bingofest for those who qualified

at least weight the stacks or make people satellite in so we can cut the field in half next time or down to 40 like a daily tournament

every time we do a series the majority of players dont like the title match

and larger starting stacks so it isn't a shove fest 30 minutes in.

Agree with Big O..........shove fest from level 6 on.........frustrating as you invest 3 months time qualifying then it becomes a bingo game 20 mins in.....Stifler's all in switch has to be worn out.......lets get a group of guys who actually play tourneys and come up with a good system.

in AC until monday if anyones in town

The software is most likely not designed to handle different starting bankrolls for this type of tourney.

I was hoping it was going to be like Shari's tournament which was 5000 starting and, I believe, 12 minute blinds. The turbo format favors those who are aggressive or catch a lot of good hands. Prefer something that allows other styles of play to actually be able to do more than just push/fold after 45 minutes.

But, definitely not complaining since they paid out so many points for free. Just something I hope they can do next time. Also wish they'd tell us the final tournament structure at the beginning, so I know if it's going to be a bingo fest or not.

Regardless, looking forward to whatever contest is next (unless it's the World Cup again). Thanks SBR!

I must agree with you Jimmy, the format was a joke, super turbo like, it is not the way to play for something significant.
i was prepare to play at least 45 hours on a format of 5000 chips 12 min blinds increment, as any normal tournament, by the 2nd hour the decision making was all in or fold due to blinds and stack level.
    very disappointing.

I agree with what everyone is saying but...

The "SBR SHOVE" will always be present no matter what starting chip size. No matter what the blinds are.

Russian could be right about the weighting issue.

They probably don't want this lasting more than 3 hours either.

I ran a tournament using the 3000 stack with 100 players using 10 minute blinds and they suggest starting at 25/50, which is bad because that's 60 bb, and the dailies start with 75bb.

Basically, you can't have a tournament in 3 hours with 100 players and a decent structure.

I'd prefer 25 auto entries, players 26-100 have access via satellite to 25 spots, 3000 chips, and a structure tweak.

Then guys who don't play every day still have a shot, guys with a good regular season get a bye so you don't need weighting stacks.

im always in favor of shorter playing time...1.5hrs for a daily is too long

but yesterdays championship was very bad. gotta be better structure than that

according to my watch, and the way my topless wife was just making me drag her around in the pool while she tanned on a raft, using my wand as the "tow rope", it should start in about 15 minutes, once I get back into the pool.......

the contest, of course, is "Best short porno film shot with an underwater go-pro camera", and we plan to win it

Just add 5 minutes to each round. It gives you a little more time, especially in the early rounds, to make a play or two. You can leave the daily tourneys alone. Everyone can't spend 3 hours playing every day. Some people have lives, though I have no idea who they are. Championship tourney should be more like the high rollers tourneys on Saturdays. More chips to start, same amount of players.

I'm in minority here Im guessing but I prefer the shorter time frame. 3 hours for a tourney where everyone but 1st is winning a fairly minimal prize amount suits me fine. Id rather not lock in to something to spend 6-8 hours and win 1000 betpoints, take this for what it is, fun and free. Stop trying to make it so complicated and hardcore.

Don't spend too much time coming up with an idea. There have been plenty in the past and they go ignored so you can wish things would happen, but SBR is going to do it their way regardless of what anyone thinks.

Would be nice if it was switched up a little and more skill-oriented...but given the grief they took when they went that way with the dailies, I can understand SBR's reluctance to change what ain't broke. Sure it's a lot more bingo-tastic than many of us would prefer, but I don't think these poker tournaments (dailies or finales) are intended to be skill-based; participation is probably their number one priority, and making it high variance makes it a lot more likely for anyone to win regardless of skill.

On top of that, as astro and others point out, SBR isn't exactly looking for feedback on the issue. Shari had a good point too (can't remember when or where it was): SBR gives away huge amounts of points to the poker folks, far more so than any other subgroup on the forums....as much as we wish it was different sometimes, it's important to keep that in midn and make sure all criticism is done with that in mind!

For those who want a skill-based format, stand by, I might be able to help ya out with some contests that could shake things up a bit

Yes, SBR does give away a ton of points to the poker community. I may not be a fan of some of the contests (mainly just the fact they constantly repeat and the World Cup teams by location make it much more difficult for US players) but with any patience one can easily make a ton of points from poker. You can literally go the all in/fold route in dailies then take those points over to Omaha hi/lo and end up with $100 worth of gift cards a month.

All I'm looking for is prompt-ish responses from the admin when there are some major issues, and it boggles my mind that people can go ignored for a week. If they're willing to drop 1,000,000+ points a year on poker then why not have the poker admin address issues quickly? I don't understand it

Good point, and I'm not sure...but I imagine it has something to do with us not being paying customers in this regard, or at least not directly in this regard. Without looking at their data it's all speculation, but putting myself in their shoes, as long as people keep playing I wouldn't be overly concerned...especially not if my previous attempts to address the community didn't work out well.
