500 points if you can guess the 3 hands of these players by midnite (2/12)

was at the casino yesterday and this hand came up and im still surprised at how it played out.

    rules:

    1. 1 guess only per player no edits

    2. please put the answer like this

    player 1: ak

    player 2: 8j

    player 3: 99

just guess the hole cards not the suits

    3. you may guess the same as another person but you have to split the prize if you are both right

    4. i will reward a consolation prize for the best guess (less then 500 points) of an amount of my choosing based on how close you actually are to the correct answer.

    the players:

bb (player 1) has been fairly tight, average player IMO.

mp (player 2) is playing pretty loose preflop with the hands he plays, not really very good overall, hitting some hands though.

button (player 3) is an old man whos playing fairly loose actually, pretty bad overall, has tried some weird bluffs and was caught everytime.

    the hand:

6 players see the flop (limped pot)

    flop (18 pot) 4h7h8c

checked to bb (player 1) who bets 10, 2 folds, mp (player 2) calls, button (player 3) calls, sb folds.

turn (about 45 after rake) 2s

bb bets 20, mp makes it 70, button cold calls 70, bb also calls the 50 extra

river (250ish in the pot) 3c

bb bets 100 (has another 300 or so left), mp tank calls 100 (leaves 60 or so behind him), button sigh folds face up (about 300 behind him)

here is a hint for each player

player 1: i think he played it ok until the river, his bet was pretty bad IMO.

player 2: didnt really like the flop play, but thought the rest of the hand was ok.

player 3: WTF?! i was shocked when i saw his hand.

i will give you guys until midnite tonight, then i will reveal the answer shortly thereafter, as well as give some of my thoughts on the hand.

If these guys were the come-to-life-casino equivalent of tt, augustus and dogcatcher then I'll venture to say:

    player 1 (tt) : A/8

    player 2 (augustus): 8/4

    player 3 (dogcatcher): 55

Deem and dane actually nailed player 2s hand 78.

Player 1 had k8 of hearts, which some guys got close on.

Player 2 had 22 for a turned set after he called a flop bet with an underpair.

Ill have some additional thoughts tomorrow on this hand.

For those keeping score at home the tightest player bets into the 2 loose players with the 3rd best hand on the river and the 2nd best hand ends up winning only because his call scared the old man.

Figured the old guy had something good if he folded and showed. How the hell does a 3 on the river scare you off there if you cold called the turn with deuces? Thanks for the free money guy

he mumbled something about 56 which was pretty much impossible the way the 2 guys played the hand. i duno how he doesnt call getting about 4.5-1 on his money closing the action. he couldnt think player 2 was very strong after he tank called and left 60 or so behind on the river. i honestly dont know why player 1 was betting the river, he couldnt really rep anything, he shoulda just gave up when he missed the river. the best part about the guy catching the 2 is that he didnt have the 2 of hearts so that was his only out and he hits it and still folds. i really dont like just flatting the flop with the 87 in that spot by player 2, he should be charging on such a draw heavy board, in a very unusual way it worked out for him in the end.

Even worse about the river bet is if P2 shoves do you really fold for $60 more? People do weird stuff live. Half the players pay no attention to stack sizes. They'll call of 80-90% of their stack on a draw on the flop and turn then fold to a bet on the river for their last 10%. Once in a while you'll see a guy call with the nuts on the river and leave some $ behind with him. P1 could possibly have 56 at that point and slow playing it but the likelihood of P2 having it is almost 0. Nothing like chasing your 1 outer and then folding when you hit it

im assuming p1 would have to call the rest of p2s bet. he does have top pair with a king kicker (would be like a crying call in limit).

i still think it seems really unlikely p1 would ever have 56. he just got a raise and a cold call on the turn, i dont see him ever just flatting in that spot and letting the river come off.

on the turn i can see just calling with the set of 2s, p2 could have 56 at that point (maybe even 44, 77 88 seemed unlikely he had been raising preflop with those hands) (p1 could have you beat even with 56 or a higher set), once p2 tanks the river and leaves 60 bucks behind then you have to think hes not that strong, p1 was in the big blind so its even possible he has something like 83 of hearts and thinks hes good now (i wouldnt, but possible he does).

this was a hand where nobody really played well at all but it made for a good example.
