    2 1/2 hands vs drunk 1/6

went back to the same casino i was at thursday to complete a nice promotion (100 dollar gift card and 50 dollars cash for 10 hours of live play) got mixed up in a couple hands against a guy falling all over the place.

    hand 1

first hand happened about 15 minutes in, i have 350, he covers, other guy in hand has about as much as me.

i get qq raise to 10 under the gun, he calls, so does another player in late position.

flops j45 rainbow, i bet 20, he calls, so does other player.

turns the 3 completes rainbow, i bet 55, he shoves allin sloppily after some thought, other guy folds, i?

    hand 2

this is some time later on, i have about 200 in front of me, he has around the same, everyone else covers us.

he had just given away lot of chips by completely overplaying top pair against the guy next to him who turned trip kings (around 200 or 250).

he straddles (had been raising wildly on the straddles before this if everyone had limped in, usually around 30 dollars, had checked a few times though) 2 players limp i get kk in the small blind, do you limp here to try and trap him or do you raise?

    1. Call. Too many Jx, drawing hands, or air bets in his range.

It sounds like this guy is somewhat aggro, but if he's a guy who has just called all the time like a 70/10 type you can find a fold since they rarely show aggression without the near nuts.

    2. Picking up KK-AA against a straddling aggro-fish is one of the best feelings in poker. If you raise them they feel inclined to defend their straddle or think you're trying to steal the pot. I raise to 30-35 and see what he does.

hand 1 it was fairly early into the session so i really had no reads other than he wasted outta his mind, he did turn a gutshot when he called a flop bet with q4 on a 357 board, and he bet that hard twice and got called by aces.

hand 2 i decided to limp in because he had just lost an enormous pot the hand before it, and i felt like there was a good chance he was going to go crazy with anything. normally i would do what dane had suggested though and hope he had somethin semi playable.

1- I think it is a fold. You only have ~90 invested he and you are not sure if he drunk spewing chips right now or not. I am guessing he has a connector hand like 45 or 34 and has two pair.

2- I would bet out, if he is drunk and steaming, he will call/raise with a wide range of hands that you are beating. I think the key is isolating him and making him feel like you are picking on him after his loss.

i kinda ruled out him having jackx, it seemed ridiculous for even a drunk to just call the flop then shove on the turn.

i did think he coulda had small cards and misread his hand, or turned something like 56 or 57 into a bluff.

also was thinking he coulda just overbet the nuts or a2 here, or turned a shitty 2 pair.

    RESULTS for hand 1 only:

i starting asking him the live game type questions hoping he would give away his hand strength somehow, he really didnt say anything to his credit and i ended up folding (face down) and he showed me 35 for two pair.

after watching him play for a while i would have probably end up calling (he was putting in a lot of money with nothing after that) but i didnt have much information at that point, in a weird way it worked to my advantage there.

ya i was definitely happy that he showed, i would have probably figured it for a bad lay down if he hadnt after watching him play.

he asked if i had him beat after he showed, and i was like if i did i wouldnt have been folding.

    Results for hand 2:

Tight old man in the big blind makes it 12 which was good cuz it reopened the action, but i figured it would probably make the straddle just call which he did. The 2 other limpers call and i make it 47, the old man just calls and the straddle shoves to my delight. I end up calling and the old guy folds ak face up. Straddle had 4s and the kings held.

im not entirely surprised the guy shoved actually, he had mumbled something to the old man about me "bluffing a lot" when i bet the turn and was bet into on the river and folded a hand about half an hour prior to that, so he probably did think it was a steal.

part of me wonders if i should have just raised anyways still, but it worked out well.
