We probably will never play eachother live, and if we did we probably wouldn't know it, so spill it. What are some of your tricks unavailable to you in the sbr poker room that you use in live games?
A couple of mine are:
-If I'm in position against a weak to average player and I don't want him to bet I go ahead and begin cutting out a stack of chips to bet. This usually either scares the weak players or tempts the average players to decide to try a check raise. Good pros usually see through this I think. Pretty common strategy probably.
-If I'm in a pot against a good player and he's trying to get a read on my bet I try to do the opposite of my instincts. Another words, if I feel more comfortable in a certain situation keeping still, I recognize this and start to move around. If I'm feeling loose and wanting to look around or sit back in my chair I recognize this before it happens and stay still. If I feel a strong urge to not look at what the player is doing I force myself to look. Some of these players are so damn good they read your soul, so I think overriding what your soul says can be advantageous.
-One strategy I would love to implement but haven't yet had the opportunity is this: I make an all in bet and smart guy shows one card to get a read and folds. When they show, they almost never call, it's done to advertise how great they are. Well if I want him to call, I would love to raise hell a second or two after he shows the card. Act flustered and say "well the hand is over, he showed his cards, my pot". The dealer would be obligated to inform me that the hand is not over, he can still call.
Then I would call the floor over and make a stink, getting more and more angry because I don't want him to call and it's not fair for him to show cards and the pot should be mine. He has to be thinking, 'what idiot would make such a scene if he had a great hand, he must be beaten.' Now there would really be nothing to lose, because if he folds he was most likely going to fold anyway, but he has to be questioning it. If he calls it would be beautiful.
