I agree that bitching about SBR should be off limits when a MOD is playing poker. Most of them are trying to have fun; and hell, Lou has came to the table and dumped chips off by shoving 2/3 offsuit ... that's a poker players dream. We need to embrace that kind of play.

Trust me: If there was a magical switch for me to flip when I've gone in there to try to have some fun and instead ended up listening to people piss and moan all while I was paying hundreds if not thousands of points for the privilege, I would've been tempted to fry many of the guys I've played with. Especially to the guys who see my name and come into the table with the min buy in just so they can directly bitch at a staff member. There's no magic switch. There's no "SBR Clique". We all run hot and we all get fukked.
The only thing that you dont seem to mention is that when I do get a hot run check the threads I say it and apologize for how fuked it seems and I will send the pts just got back from the real world had a job to go to sorry couldnt do it earlier. I know I bitch a lot but isnt that what this is for I know not all bitching but talking and its not just me and I have played with you countless times and you have never done that?? You know what? You're right. If FullTilt had a forum they would've had the same thing. People bitching about this and that constantly. I even bitched at SBR John when we were playing heads up one night. Not because I thought the cards were rigged because I know they're not but because I kept losing and losing no matter how better my hands were. And then it turned. And I smoked him. And thankfully he left

So yeah... keep going. I guess I'm just not used to it because I played at FT for years and while I dealt with guys tilting at the table or wacko railbirds I didn't feel like I "knew" them so it didn't bother me. But with the people here I feel like the regulars are kind of my friends as sad as that may sound so it simultaneously offends me as an employee and upsets me as a friend that you think I'd be so stupid to work or play somewhere if it was rigged considering I've lost plenty playing poker here. I don't get paid in points and many here remember my year+ odyssey to save enough points to buy my son an iPad as it's a total first world purchase and I refused to pay cash for something he'll probably smash soon. I'm just asking that you keep it in perspective. Staff are allowed to play poker. We lose along with the rest of you. And we go on heaters too just like you do

I hope your son is having fun with the ipad and is doing well.

BTW- I sent the pts that that guy lost to him, and unless Chris wants the rest back someone give me an idea with what to do with some pts and I will do it but only for a good cause not just cause someone wants them.

I generally enjoy playing with the SBR staff and hope they continue to play. Shari is enjoyable conversation and John is a chip volcano waiting to explode. I hope you guys will continue to sit and play in the future.

I cannot really go with the conspiracy theories or the the theories of the only people who win are those that always dump their points in casino as I have done fairly well with SBR poker over the years(despite always running bad...lol) and I have cashed out quite a few things. Just the other day ordered $300 bucks in vivid tickets bucks.

PS and Shari, I would be interested in watching you "run hot" and "get fukked" if your selling tickets of some sort. kidding of course...maybe

Hurls is a good guy and sent me points. Regarding Chris I wasn't that upset by the beat, I'd have played his hand the same way he did against me, I just wish he would have stuck around a little longer. I like SBR and I like playing cards here.

They did have a forum... way more strategy talk and upcoming FT goings-on (promos, etc.) than bitching.
But in retrospect, maybe a closer eye and a bit more bitching was called for with these FT clowns.

As an aside, I got a shout-out from poker writer Michael Craig on the FT forum/his blog once regarding one of the early FTOPS.
Not quite as prestigious as a Jonelyn shout-out, of course, but not bad either.

Understandable and makes complete sense. That'd tick me off, too.

I've always got a kick outta the "rigged" hysterics and have thrown in a tweak here and there cuz I couldn't help myself.

But having said that, I think what has to be considered (and given its proper weight) is the FACT that online poker has been racked with bona fide cheating scandals so... it's natural that this paranoia exists among the playing community.

It's just that, like Napolean from _Animal Farm_ said: "Some are more paranoid then others".

As a guy that never for one second believed/believes that SBR poker is "rigged", I do think it was important to go public with the Big Blue stuff, Shari, simply because of the aforementioned factual occurrences that have taken place in online Pokerdom (And TY for the explanation).

I've always had faith in SBR's integrity, due in large part precisely because of those interactions you're referencing (have played w/John, you, etc).

Normally we don't comment on poster accounts but since a couple of you are going to carry on with this: Bigblue used to write articles for SBR's main page. Some guys got payment in points once a week or whatever, others preferred to let them build up so they didn't piss them away in the casino. What you saw last year was his payment. If SBR wanted to load a ghost up with points, a deposit could just be made into their sportsbook account and you'd never know. Same as you don't know who gets freeplays and for how much. As I said to Gummo, no matter how stupid some of you might think staff are we're a bit smarter than that. GL at the tables

"If SBR wanted to load a ghost up with points, a deposit could just be made into their sportsbook account and you'd never know."

Yeah, you just never know when some outright deceiving shit is go'in on. Thanks again Shari, message received loud and clear. While I can agree that you have and play with integrity, you are just a Mod here and it's the things you don't know and aren't privy to, like only wanting to discuss how Big Blue got a 5K payment via PM. If that was anybody else or a "regular" sbr member, you and everybody else would be all over that shit!

Living in Australia, (although I believe you were recently moving), and not being in the loop at the main offices, does have it's disadvantages. You only know and do what you're told and take it on faith because you work for sbr. Naturally, you're gonna defend your employer whether it's the truth or not. I don't have a problem with any sbr employee playing poker, as long as they identify themselves as such. The way you all went about it with the whole Big Blue douche bag and his fuk'in smart ass mouth, his style of play, and the winning percentage of shit hands he won on, was totally deceiving and unethical.

Call it what you want to, but I didn't get off the fuk'in bus yesterday. I'v been do'in this shit for a long damn time now, and nothing compares to the deception disguised as fair play going on here. It is after all, a software poker game programed by humans and it's very easy to it make do what you program it to.

Mike just to make it clear - Big Blue doesn't work for SBR. He was a poster that was submitting articles for the main page last year. Many posters do that, maybe even some in this thread and definitely several that you play poker with. The majority of the articles you see on that page are just from regular posters who are trying to earn a few points, build up their writing portfolio or just really love the sport they're writing about. They're not SBR employees. However they don't use their poster names for the articles so you won't necessarily know who they are unless they tell you. It's not like it's a deep secret. There have been several big threads where Admin have asked for people interested in earning some points to submit their writing samples. That's what he was doing. And that would be why he didn't identify himself as an employee: 1. he doesn't even write articles any more and 2. even if he did, he doesn't work here any more than you or anyone else does.

Anyway I hope this thread has helped to clear it up somewhat. If myself, John, Lou, Chris or any other Staff member are ever playing poker you will know. Despite the theories, we all only have one username and besides there's no hope in hell I'd win a tournament and give some bloody ghost account my badge. They're hard enough for me to get as it is

It was there from pretty early on.....

(I came across it when a friend sent me the link of the Craig posting; I had made a good run in an FTOP tourney and there were railers -- Craig obviously among them -- and he pulled a wisecrack I had made in chat about the tourney and used it in his posting. He gave me full credit for the crack... he didn't plagiarize it which I appreciated.)

Congrats . I made a few deep runs in some FTOP events, too. I miss those tournaments.

The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King is a good book. I'm a big Ted Forrest fan and I thought Craig did a good job illustrating what a gambling nut Forrest is.

haha that's awesome! I'm kind of sad I didn't even know a forum existed there but then again I ran into so many creeps at the tables that it's probably better I didn't.

That's a wicked book! Haven't read it in ages so it's time I pick it up again.

Speaking of which, have any of you ever read Stung? It's a true story about a Canadian banker who ended up ripping off one of the country's biggest banks for over $10 million so he could gamble. I've read it so many times and have carried it from country to country but now the pages are falling out so I need to get a new copy. If you've never read it, you should give it a go if you get the chance. There was actually a movie made about him called Owning Mahowny with Phillip Seymour Hoffman but I've always been too scared to watch it just in case they took too many liberties with his life. That book was finally the thing that scared me off what could've been a serious lifelong blackjack problem.

I haven't read Stung, but I'll Kindle is this weekend and let you know what I thought. I love any true-life gambling book about pool, poker, horse racing etc etc. There are so many great (sad) degenerate stories out their about gamblers that you don't need to add any fiction to them to make their stories interesting. I did see Owning Mahowny, but I'm sure the book will be better than the movie.

Yeah Beer, that's the book. The guy was so smart about how he went about scamming but even though he was wagering up to a couple of million a weekend, he lived like a pauper. It was purely just addiction. The part that had scared me the most was that he was so meticulous with his gambling from the time he was like 10yo. No matter what he bet on, he'd keep track of his +/- in a journal. When I read that part I almost puked because I looked over to my nightstand and there was my black Moleskine which had the result of every bet, home game and casino visit of mine detailed from when I was about 15 or so. That's when it hit too close to home for me so I gave up blackjack completely.

I remember reading awhile back that when all of this came out the NJ Casino Commission shut down Caesars on the Saturday after Thanksgiving as punishment for enticing Brian to gamble by sending him a private jet each week and extending massive lines of credit. Not only did they lose all that revenue on one of their busiest days of the year but they still had to pay out wages, expected tips, etc. All for dangling the bait to a sick guy.

I had a feeling "The Giant" was an Sbr ghost.

Oh and maybe people would quit bitching if sbr wouldn't be robbing people via sbr poker.

I don't personally play because I knew it would be crooked. I learned the hard way with sbr's casino and that was enough for me to realize that sbr has no problem rigging games and ripping off it's members.

Something we agree on Mikail! Well kind of. I thought Giant was a ghost... not an SBR ghost because I'd obviously know if he was but just a general Casper. In fact I went at him quite hard one night in poker chat privately and then again another time when others were at the table. But the general rule applies: SBR doesn't need the traffic of ghosts. Fortunately this forum and all of its' sites are big enough to not require fake accounts so if anyone is found with 2+ accounts it's dealt with immediately. Usually multi accounts are created to either scam points, troll SBR's loyal posters, stiff loans or to try to fake a 90% capping genius persona. None of those fly here.

Hurls, you just told me in the poker room that you usually apologize after one of these embarrassing rants. It's been over a half an hour, what's the hold up?

Which of these two ghosts do you envision me to look like the most, Mikail?

In fact I went at him quite hard one night in poker chat privately and then again another time when others were at the table. But the general rule applies: SBR doesn't need the traffic of ghosts. Fortunately this forum and all of its' sites are big enough to not require fake accounts so if anyone is found with 2+ accounts it's dealt with immediately. Usually multi accounts are created to either scam points, troll SBR's loyal posters, stiff loans or to try to fake a 90% capping genius persona. None of those fly here.
I wish there was a kissing emoticon that I could slide in right here, Shari. Just close your eyes and consider yourself kissed...

"The Giant" I don't know who you are but I will find out. I do know for certain your a ghost account. Doesn't really matter to me I just find it amusing that people can't post with one account. I understand why sbr employees use them even though they troll too, but for the average member it's usually just trolling or scamming. Oh and if your tired of all the threads complaining about sbr's poker then perhaps you should focus your annoyance toward those responsible for all the shady happenings that go on with the poker.
